I wouldn't say all King bugles were poorly plated. I've seen a number of older 2 valves that appear pristine. I have a K-70 that looks brand new that I bought for only $200 a few months ago. Talk about beautiful. Our Kanstul 2 valve contra prototype's plating is certainly questionable. But my god its heavy compared to the later horns. That thing has a good 10- 14 pounds on the Later Grandes' I don't know how they managed to march with that.
