Do you dot shop?

Recommended Posts

I picked up a pretty good analogy for this topic during a rehearsal today.

If you took the grid that everyone sees on their drill chart, enlarged it and superimposed it over the football field, then the dot you see on the paper would be a lot bigger than a dot on the actual field.

Meaning that even if you are "on your dot" there is still some leeway as to whether or not it's accurate. That came from Jason Bentley, a former Cadet/Crossmen member who also taught Crossmen for a few years. Someone who I consider to be a visual genious.

So now I guess we have to figure out exactly what is a dot.

The center of your body aligned with the center of the mark on the paper. Sometimes that means your feet will be spread and end up on both side of the dot, but your center is still aligned with the dot.
