Powder Springs, GA Show Parking Concerns

Recommended Posts

A couple dozen or so parking places are given up for construction staging areas, but not to any substantial effect on parking overall.

We can't "officially" recommend any alternative parking sites outside the school, unfortunately :(

Parking there is not as good as at some stadiums, but a lot better than some other city stadium sites :)

Carpooling by leaving a vehicle offsite and meeting up with a friend or two is encouraged. Getting there early is even more encouraged -- the box office opens at 5:30.

Drum Corps Planet "insider tip" -- there'll be a special presentation after the show, and you'll get to hear Spirit play "Georgia" conducted by a very special guest. Stick around for the encore B)

(Gee - too bad the churches couldn't be enticed to participate in a pay lot for a cut of the profits.)

...and if you look at the statue from a certain angle...

... with one eye closed and hopping on the other foot...

by the way.... what time is the gates expected to be open or will there be a chance to see a rehearsal there like last year?

Latest update on parking:

According to the McEachern band booster folks, the two places you will almost certainly be towed if you park in are the parking lot of the LDS church just south of the school on New Macland Road, and on the shoulder of any roads or streets in the area.

On the up side, we're presently talking to the folks at McEachern Memorial Methodist church about the possibility of operating their parking lot for auxiliary parking. We checked it out tonight, and if it works out, it would basically double the number of spectator parking sites available, and there are sidewalks from the church to the stadium.

As always, the main spectator lot has as many spots available as it ever has.

Sooooo... don't let parking stress you out. It's not a big deal :)

And usmpiano is right -- don't miss the CorpsVets!

Stay tuned...

Latest word from the buck-stops-here lady (that's moi) :)

McEachern Methodist is A-OK with folks parking in their LARGE lot -- it holds at least as many vehicles as the main spectator lot (600+ spaces) at the school. There's a sidewalk from there to the stadium, and it's only about a one-block walk.

Again, please don't park at the LDS church or along area roads -- we love ya and don't want your ride to get towed! :P

You're good to go-- see you at the show! B)
