Tone Quality Matters
This sudden groundswell against BK is sorta cracking me up. To clarify since you didn't get it in my first post, I said I enjoyed BK's show. I thought it was well done, but I felt Crown was better last night with the exception of percussion. The scores indicated the same. I did not bag on BK or say their show wasn't any good, so stop trying to fish for hostility that is not there
Workenstiff
"what a bunch of crap,,,,3 points in one night. yeah right. judges = and so what else is new" (workenstiff , original quote") [quote name='jayboe172' date='Jul 30 2006, 10:51 PM' post='1510861'] judging has been everywhere lately...but thats good ol' DCI :P ....besides...it keeps it interesting Keeps it interesting ???? For who???? The fans ????? What about the kids that are jumping all over the sheets ,,and don't know if they REALLY improved for all their hard work ,,,or its just DCI and their outdated judging system????? It really sucks to have jumped 3 points one night ,,,and then back down 3, 4 ,5 points the next,, for the corps members. I know you ( jayboe) didn't mean anything of it,,but what may be good for the fans ,,,sucks for the marching members. <**>

The point I was trying to make was that before this last weekend, the reviews I've read have been overwhelmingly positive in tone, and since this weekend, at least to me, the tone has been considerably less positive towards the BK show. I'm not searching for hostility, merely pointing out that since they beat Boston and Carolina, marketedly more negative reviews of BK's show have made their way to these forums. I think it's an interesting phenominon and makes for interesting conversation... nothing more. Edited July 31, 2006 by Keith Laubhan
27SOA
As for NightBEAT, it is a terrific venue and crowd every year!! Kudos to the committee for bringing the U. S. Marine Drum and Bugle Corps...always entertaining. Looking forward to hearing them again in Madison. And if you haven't been to the Sunset Parade at the Iwo Jima Memorial in D. C. (Tuesday nights each summer), you're missing out. BUT, even more exciting was the U. S. Marine Silent Drill Platoon who performed after Crown and before scores. I didn't think 7,000 fans would be silent for their performance, but you could hear a pin drop! DCI doesn't even feature these guys!! http://nightbeat.carolinacrown.org/ Great job NightBEAT!
