What an amazing photo. When was this taken?

1992, for DCI's 20th anniversary. They had a ceremony at Finals with all of these people, trotting out the old uniforms of member corps of the past and present. Kind of a big deal that night.

Some notes:

Pacific Crest is not represented. They didn't even exist until 1993.

The old Freelancer cadet (in the middle, 1.5 from the end), worn in this picture by former marching and staff member Greg Morgan, was grey.

In context, that old Star uniform doesn't stand out quite so much.

The source I took this from said that it is a member from each corps that has participated in DCI Finals, since its creation in 1972. Then again, they also said it was from 1997 (25th Anniv.), which contradicts MikeBob, so I'm not really sure what is right. Pretty cool nonetheless

I would like to know a little more about it though. Whose idea was it? How did they pick the people? Where did they get the old uniforms from?

I can just imagine....

(Email to Corps X Alums)

"Hey guys,

If anyone has an old uniform hanging around that they can still fit in, and wants to participate in this Anniversary picture, shoot me an email back. Whoever has the oldest uniform wins.

Later

DCI"

(end email)

Well, obviously I am! No, seriously, they must've just done it again in '97, then, because that would explain the Glassmen uniform (since their first year in Finals was '93). If that's Kevin in the Glassmen uniform, though, he ought to be able to clarify things.

Hey, I've been working on this all afternoon. I've edited it about 4 times. This is kinda fun.

I think I have a couple corrected (i tried to include links to photos when I could find them). I am still missing a couple corps that should be pictured but I'm not sure if my "blanks" are them? Seneca Optimists and Belleville Black Knights are a mystery. I'm still stuck on B7... hmmm... anyway - here are my guesses

T1 = Crossmen

T2 = Carolina Crown

T3 = Glassmen

T4 = Magic of Orlando

T5 = Spirit of Atlanta

T6 = Sky Ryders

T7 = Suncoast Sound

T8 = Star of Indiana

T9 = Velvet Knights

T10 = Purple Lancers

T11 = Guardsmen

T12 = Bluecoats (Tom Bosse I think - Why no helmet in the photo?)

T13 = Black Knights? Not enough detail on the sleeve and the pic is cut off!!

M1 = Kilties http://www.corpsreps.com/pictures/1972KI~1.jpg

M2 = Bleu Raeders

M3 = Colts

M4 = Blue Knights

M5 = Phantom Regiment

M6 = Dutch Boy

M7 = Commodores http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y181/mell...commodores1.jpg

M8 = Des Plains Vanguard http://www.desplainesvanguard.com/dpv_phot...os/14_1975l.jpg

M9 = North Star http://www.geocities.com/Paris/Promenade/1757/2duet.jpg

M10 = Finleyville Royal Crusaders http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e55/oldo...ers1973USOp.jpg

M11 = St. Andrews Bridgemen http://www.bridgemen.info

M12 = Freelancers http://www.corpsreps.com/pictures/FrLc78R.jpg

M13 = Muchachos http://www.corpsreps.com/pictures/Much75S.jpg

M14 = Blue Devils

B1 = Blessed Sacrament Golden Knights http://www.bsgoldenknights.org/

B2 = Madison Scouts

B3 = Troopers

B4 = Santa Clara Vanguard

B5 = Garfield Cadets

B6 = DeLaSalle Oaklands http://www.delasalle-drumcorps.com/

B7 = No Clue- NOT Seneca Optimists, Boston Crusaders or Black Knights

B8 = Blue Rock http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e55/oldo...k1973USOpen.jpg

B9 = Argonne Rebels http://www.corpsreps.com/pictures/ARG68CP.jpg

B10 = Anaheim Kingsmen

B11 = 27th Lancers

B12 = Blue Stars

It can't be 1992. Crown is represented by the 1996 drum major uniform. I remember seeing something like this from 1992, but this picture isn't it.

Yes. That and the presence of a Glassmen uniform confirm that I was wrong to say it was the '92 pic. There is a '92 pic floating around out there from the first (?) time this was done, but this one, as you say, isn't it.

hmmm true.

Could it be from the 30th Anniversary in 2002? Did they take a pic or have a ceremony that year?

I remember a HUGE multimedia performance at the Age Out ceremony in Madison but I don't remember a "Parade of Finalists" like in 92.

That would explain Boston in the front row (B7)

EDIT: duh. The image title is dci97.jpg - so it must be from the 25th Anniversary.

Boston didn't make finals until 99 right? Can't be BAC.

Wait - What year did Majic forst make finals? This is confusing.

'97 would make sense because Colts, Glassmen, Magic and Crown had not made Finals yet in '92.
