Kingston Grenadiers

Recommended Posts

Entering our 46th year, the Kingston Grenadiers Drum and Bugle Corps is preparing for an exciting new season as Canada’s only remaining competitive Drum Corps.

On September 16th, the Grenadiers will be hosting a Recruitment Day Event at Rotary Hall - 559 Bagot St. from 10 am - 2 pm. We are seeking new members ages 13 and up. There will be displays by brass, percussion, colour guard and viewing of competition videos. Scott Atkins will be our special guest speaker at 11 am. He is an Artist Relations Manager for one of Canada’s largest musical instrument distribution companies, as well as a performer, educator, arranger, recording artist and producer.

Openings for new members of all ages for brass, percussion and colour guard. This is a great opportunity for free instruction by professional educators. Whether you are experienced or have no experience, come and find out more about us. Also opportunities for volunteers to assist and travel with the corps.

Enjoy the Experience of performing in parades, concerts and competitions. For further information contact Kelsey Stanford at bass_drum_1@hotmail.com, Don Dean 613-378-6420 or www.kingstongrenadiers.com

Does this mean there will be clinics going on with your techs at the open house?

It is an orientation day to educate and inform. This will include some playing demo`s as well. Our tech`s will be happy to answer any questions you might have. We will also have several of our caption heads in attendance as well. The day is a start to re-energize drum corps in Canada as our grass roots have become weak and as folks hang on to the past which is fine, what is really needed is to move to the future. Hope this helps.

Friendly reminder from any of us Yanks who travel to Canada you MUST have your birth certificate to cross the border (or at least get back into the states). As of 2007 you MUST have a passport to cross the border. Also bring Photo ID (drivers license) and don't be surprised for searches.

Best of luck Grennies!

Thanks for the reminder I believe the passport is manditory if you arrive by air or sea for 2007 and the following year it will be required at land crossings. They only search for Canadian Beer. Can`t blame them.

Interesting story, my uncles apparently tried to cross the border with too much beer and they were forced (passengers of course) to drink enough beer in Canada to cross the border with the legal amount of beer.
