Hawthorne Caballeros Camp Report - January 6th & 7th

Carmen - 2007!

What a beautiful weekend to compliment a beautiful program! Carmen - 2007 continues to inflame the heart of the Caballeros. :worthy:

The brass and percussion sections rehearsed all weekend at Hawthorne High School and boy, did we get a lot done. Thanks to a beautiful 70 degree Saturday we all got to do visual blocks outside. Bobby Jones and his team put us through the paces, and yes he got results. Lots of sore muscles on Sunday - but well worth it, of course.

In addition to learning new notes, the staff also focused on completing the brass and percussion ensemble of Act I, The Opener - well... mission accomplished. As members we were proud of what we accomplished by the end of rehearsal. The staff was also pleased with the results.

Dennis Argul, Brass Caption Head and Arranger said "this year's musical show is going to be all things for all fans! There will be power, energy and excitement for all the die hard Caballero fans young and old as well as some cool, slick, sophistication which is sure to attract new fans to this great drum corps! I also want to add that the design team is second to none in terms of communication, cooperation and creativity! The work ethic is great and everyone is having a good time working! That's a sign to a very successful season!

And Adam Freeman, a member of the brass staff (and former marching member) had this to say. "Dennis Argul and Gary Gill have put together one of Hawthorne's classiest and energizing books that we have ever had. With the addition of Bobby Jones's drill and the work of Ray Rhodes we will again be putting out a high quality program that is sure to be successful, exciting, and intense... but most importantly entertaining which is what the Caballeros have been known for."

Want to hear more? Come to our next camp weekend, January 27th and 28th. New members are welcome in all sections. For more information contact Mike Ryan at cabscontra@aol.com or call Mike at (973) 709-0500 ext 1532. You can also check out www.cabs.org for more rehearsal details. Be a part of the future of the Hawthorne Caballeros!

Just a side note the brass line is still looking for a few more solid players. We are looking for a handful of trumpets (doesn't matter what part you play), a baritone or two and a tuba or two. Come be part of the tradition and excellence that has excited fans for over 60 years.
