Walter
It seems that the next Classic Countdown is going to more of a mystery than the first two. I think that the term "CLASSIC" should be from 1972-1999. Since most of the top 30 corps that people have to pick from are from 2000 on, it seems that it has turned into more of a popularity contest. What are your true "TOP 12 Classic Countdown" ? Here's mine in no special order: 1. 1972 Anaheim Kingsmen 2. 1974 Santa Clara Vanguard 3. 1975 Troopers 4. 1976 Blue Devils 5. 1979 Spirit of Atlanta 6. 1980 27th Lancers 7. 1984 Garfield Cadets 8. 1988 Santa Clara Vanguard 9. 1989 Phantom Regiment 10. 1989 Dutch Boy 11. 1991 Star of Indiana 12. 1996 Phantom Regiment Edited February 28, 2007 by ODBC

A27Lancer
1973 Troopers - Not the epitome of their glory years, but the best available. (1975 Muchachos - can't give them a vote because the video is unavailable) 1977 Bridgemen - DQ aside, they had a great show that year. I like it better than 1980. 1979 Guardsmen - Greensleeves; that hornline!!! And those rifles!!!!! 1979 North Star - Many memories - I had lots of friends in that corps. Very difficult emotions watching this corps in the day... Want to watch them now and just ENJOY it for the shear fun of it. 1982 27th Lancers - Because I taught that year and have never seen the video - great improvement in a (as always) corps that never gave up 1987 Suncoast Sound - YES, 1987. I really liked that show! 1987 Garfield Cadets - Oh my! 1996 Crossmen. Why, oh why, isn't this show on more lists? The added flag feature at finals in the opener, "Birdland", excitement, and a gorgeous ballad. to ALL!! My 27 cents...
notelvis
There are too many great shows to do this one justice......but I'll try. Reverse chronological order - 1995 Madison Scouts 1993 Phantom Regiment 1991 Star of Indiana 1988 Santa Clara 1987 Santa Clara 1987 Garfield 1984 Garfield 1984 Blue Devils 1981 27th Lancers 1980 27th Lancers 1980 North Star 1979 Bridgemen And that's just my list for today. Tomorrow could bring another 12 shows I would love to see again - - - some favorites that won't ever make the big screen but I liked them anyway - like 1982 Sky Ryders or 1982 Freelancers. How about the 1984 Crossmen or 1993 Glassmen or 1995 Colts and on and on.
LancerLegend
Aside from my prejudice for 27th and BD - here goes - a few of my favs - all based on "music" and listening to cassettes in my CAH. (Do newbies even know what a cassette is?) 73 Troopers 73 and 74 Kingsmen 74 Madison 75 Muchachos 77 27th - lots of fun to play that show 81 Bridgemen 83 Cadets - ROCKY POINT HOLIDAY and THE MASS !!!!! 87 Cadets - they took Simple Gifts one step further than SCV - and I can "hear" the visual element 88 BD - the old fashioned kick butt style of drum corps 90 BD - loved the Rock Opera Tommy 97 BD - emotional for me, the entire theme - coincided with my Dad's death and dealing with As Time Goes By
byline
I assume that we have to go by what's available on video? In that case, I believe it starts with 1974, so that's where I'll start: 1. 1974 Santa Clara Vanguard 2. 1974 Anaheim Kingsmen 3. 1975 Madison Scouts 4. 1976 Oakland Crusaders 5. 1980 27th Lancers 6. 1980 Bridgemen 7. 1982 Blue Devils 8. 1984 Garfield Cadets 9. 1985 Spirit of Atlanta 10. 1987 Phantom Regiment 11. 1991 Cavaliers 12. 1993 Star of Indiana
bstar82
The shows I would do anything to get into Doc Brown's time machine and see one more time would be: 1982 Phantom Regiment 1979 Bridgemen 1982 Freelancers 1980 27th Lancers 1978 North Star 1989 Velvet Knights (Yo Mambo) 1982 Garfield Cadets ( the start of their rise to the top) 1980 Madison Scouts ( I'll never forget their warmup) 2002 Crossmen 1983 Santa Clara 1986 Blue Devils 1981 Cavaliers No real rhyme or reason. Just shows that I personally loved at the time.
