BigSev Posted July 26, 2007 Author Share Posted July 26, 2007 I would be curious what the percentage of kids from the immediate La Crosse area is and what the percentage of kids from out side the "coolie region (?) " is. The horn line sounds so mature - are these "kids from God's country" local talent or is the hornline made up of music majors from around the country like most top 12 corps hornlines. My thoughts are, just like all the other top Div I corps, this group of performers are made up of people from all over the country and even the world. j00 Posted July 28, 2007 Share Posted July 28, 2007 (edited) Yeah this is, in my opinion, the best piece of media coverage drum corps has ever had. 30 second clips on cbs news talking about some marching competition can't even come close to the coverage provided by WKBT. In 2005 it generated a lot of interest and brought a lot of new drum corps fans to the home show. This year they did it again and went over the top with the coverage. We've sent an email to DCI about this coverage to have them put it on their home page and they've done nothing, so please please please email Jennifer and her bosses to let her know how much not only the Blue Stars, but the entire drum corps community enjoyed her work. Last year I watched the Blue Stars practice in La Crosse because my boyfriend was marching(and I'm an alum of course) and she came out to see them even though she didn't do a piece on them last year. She is genuinely interested in and amazed at the amount of effort involved in drum corps. This also helps the coverage she gives during the Oktoberfest parade of our Alumni Corps. She always has amazing things to say! Show your support!
