milestogo
1. Jersey Surf2. Spartans 3. BD "B" 4. SCVC 5. Teal Sound 6. Raiders 7. Colt Cadets I've seen both shows, and I believe that Surf's show just has more of an ability to succeed from a show concept placement. Surf's repetiore musically, I feel, is more challenging and interesting. As for Blue Devils B, I have a feeling that the score is slightly inflated, but not that much. Other than the top two, I cant really say the placements would be surprising. Spartans are ahead visually, and I think that is their greatest advantage, but two things are causing Surf to not be at the level of Spartans. The change of the visual staff, and new marching technique, and the fact that they are a larger corps, and more dirt is likely to be seen in their drill. If Surf comes up to terms in visual, they should be in first place. They also need, as is always true with the Jersey Surf, some more percusion points. mello_laurel
I saw Surf the other night in Bristol, and I was BLOWN AWAY. But I'm not going to say anything about placements until after I see the Spartans tomorrow in Lawrence.

I haven't yet seen the Spartans show (or any other div II for that matter), but surf was leaps and bounds better than last year, and still better than i expected knowing that their staff changes should help them out some. They might be a real contender this year i think! also, 7th regiment is much improved from last year. they won't be in contention with other "powerhouses", but its nice to see a small corps grow from year to year. Meaghatron
First off, I really enjoyed Memphis Sound's show (on the Kalamazoo WebCast). Secondly, can someone explain to me how the Div. II/III Championships work? Are they separate Championships? I've only been following Div. I for a year or so, and I know nothing about Div. II/III. Any info would help. Thanks :)
jonnyboy
So, I've heard Surf gained some staff and members from East Coast Jazz. These are the same people that give DIV 2 a run annually. How many ECJers went to Jersey, and is this the shot in the arm that Surf needed to jump that extra level to championship contender?
PurpleKnights
Oregon Crusaders are taking a shorter tour because they can still have a good number of shows and save an INCREDIBLE amount of money, not because they don't plan on being competitive. Leaving them out of finals is probably a serious error. They are marching 32 horns and have a very strong program. Their show is completely on the field and they have until the Tri-Cities show to clean, clean, and clean.
