Popular Post blueorginal Posted May 24, 2012 Popular Post Posted May 24, 2012 (edited) I ran across this recording of the 1976 Bluecoats in a box I hadn't opened in years. I thought now would be a good time to digitize it and share with all the BLUE Alumni and Fans to hear where we came from in history. 1976 was our 3rd Competing year, we competed more including a few contest in Toronto, PA, Ohio and Michigan, we score our first 70 this year, made the US Open and didn't go to DCI in Philly for fear of Legionaires disease. We appreciated our fans, since we first hit the field they were always supportive an we seemed to be crowd favorites back then also. This was the first year we played Bridge Over Troubled Waters which would become our Corps Song until Autumn Leaves made its way into our hearts. But for us original 'coats, Bridge will always hold special memories and since we're now at the ages where we are losing our old friends it's nice to know we'll always have a friend when we need one. Facts: About 40 horns, first show we stepped off from the far sideline, first show we had a flag color change from white with red stripe to Solid red on the end of show reprise of the opener. Truman Crawford arranged music and came in and worked with us a number of times. Bluecoats 1976 http://www.clv-lofts.com/bc/bluecoats_76.mp3 Repertoire: Quejada Drum Fugue I Believe Turkey In The Straw Theme From Gold Theme From SWAT Bridge Over Troubled Water Reprise Quejada Hope you all enjoy it. edited for typos etc Edited May 24, 2012 by blueorginal 10 Quote
mingusmonk Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 This is fantastic. So much better than the copy of 76 in circulation and on our wiki site. I'm going to spread this, with appropriate credit of course. I know lots of folks will love it. Thanks! Quote
blueorginal Posted May 25, 2012 Author Posted May 25, 2012 no problem if i come across 74,75, 77 and 78 i'll do the same Quote
JimF-LowBari Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 (edited) Know I'm a year late but just found this.... Westshoremen played the same arrangement of Quejada in 76/77 and also as an opener. Had no idea we were not the only ones. Irony is Larry Hershman was running Westshoremen at the time and later went to Bluecoats... small DC world eh... LOL we also played "Turkey in the Straw" as a drum solo 1976 but different arrangement. First year we had marching bells so that would be our first belled drum solo.
