  1. To quote Peter Griffin, "WHAT THE H#LL IS THIS??!!!" LOL...
  2. Vesuvius was my favorite number, but I cannot say that about the rest of the pieces they had, so I guess you're not alone in that aspect. Cadets have had pieces much better than those, but they did play those pieces well. I am looking forward to seeing what they come out with next year.
  3. I love the new stadium but I am also worried about the acoustics. Hopefully everything goes well.
  4. Congratulations to you (but more to him as they've had an excellent season), but some of the debates in this thread are pretty valid IMO.
  5. Well I fell in love with Vesuvius the first time I heard the arrangement in March. My favorite part is that long run the hornline has. It's a traditional Cadet run that gets me going everytime. I am looking forward to the DVD release of finals so I can watch it.
  6. For someone who's agitated about what's being posted, you sure do find your way back to this thread.
  7. Excellent point. Loud is definitely exciting in drum corps. I know I've been to a few symphonies in the past that just does not compare to drum corps. But the thing that keeps me coming back to drum corps is how corps build to that impact point. To me, I think that's just as exciting as the impact points.
  8. Variety, musicality, design, and excellence seem more of the point to me, and Crown has been one of the corps who have done just that. Not everything has to be only about volume. And frankly I'm a little shocked to see that statement coming from you as you did say that you thought that people didn't want this insubstantial "made for drum corps" repetitive nonsense.
  9. Hold on a second. Who says they're stepping down? There has been many shows in the past few years that have been HIGH quality IMO mainly because the music they performed was coupled with a "package" that was well designed.
  10. Exactly. I tend to not look at that as their not being able to play the part and march it. I think of it as a mere effect. For example, Cadets 1997, they stood still for the opening run of their show. I think it has more effect that way vice marching it. I really don't see why this is a problem. Cavies usually produce some great shows regardless of whether they move a lot or not.
  11. Well frankly I don't see anything wrong with any type of music any corps decides to put on the field. As long as they perform it to the best of their ability and the show is well designed, I'm all for it, accessible or not.
  12. Okay fair enough. But what exactly would you call an example of "insubstantial 'made for drum corps' repetitive nonsense"?
  13. LOL!!!! It's not like they couldn't play it on the move if Jeff had written the drill that way.
  14. Please, spare me the quote as this site is filled with negativity. Go back a few pages and you will see it. And I'm just saying, people seem to find a lot wrong with corps who play music that not everyone knows.
  15. Well from most of the comments I've read about that subject on this thread, that's exactly what it means. Crown's show has a lot of music that has been heard before, played before, etc., which is okay, because it worked well for them. To me, it seems many people want to hear music that HAS been heard before, and I have also heard the same thing in many other threads.
  16. What I love about Crown is the fact that they are another east coast corps within the top six. I also love to acknowledge how far they have come in their short existence. I honestly didn't like much of their show this year, but last year show was my favorite. I appreciate the fact that they managed to beat Cadets for the first time in their existence. I usually like most of the music they play because as some pointed out, it is accessible. What I DON'T like is how there are some who think accessible music is the way to go. I highly disagree with this in some cases. I like the fact that a lot of corps play music that hasn't been heard before because it exposes me to something new, and I LOVE new, most of the time.
  17. Well in G's defense, he did say Cadets had the best drill (if nothing else mattered).
  18. That may be true but to me, if it works for them, so be it. I usually love Cavies' shows except 2005. But 2006 and 2003 were my favorites. The designs of those shows were absolutely genius.
  19. It was like, despite all the trials they've been though this summer, they decided to show what the corps is really made of, and that's sheer velocity and power.
  20. If they have this formula next year, I think I will die.
  21. I've watch that clip about 15 times in the past 30 min and I am still amazed. I am looking forward to the DVD just to watch that part of the show. Even the drumline is booking.
  22. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DON!!! Thanks for being the founding father of one of my favorite corps.
