freakyswotboy Posted July 4, 2008 Posted July 4, 2008 It puzzles me somewhat that at the start of a season corps field unfinished shows. SCV seem to be a serial offender and whilst this clearly handicaps the corps, how do judges manage to judge these shows against a finished product? Quote
freakyswotboy Posted July 4, 2008 Author Posted July 4, 2008 Why can they be put on the field? If you mean 'why can't they be put on the field'? i have no problem with it, I am just curious as to how it is judged. Sometime back there used to be timing penalties I believe, is that not still the case? Forgive my ignorance on this matter but the last DCI show I attended was back in 1979! Quote
leadsopranoman Posted July 4, 2008 Posted July 4, 2008 I would just judge what I am seeing on the field that night at that show. How do we know that it isnt finished? maybe they are not adding the closer they have on paper. Also early season shows usually end up different by the end of the season anyways. So as a judge you need to judge what you see and the execution of what you see. Quote

The rules state a show will be 9 1/2 minutes minimum and 11 minurtes maximum. Anything more or less is supposed to be penalized. Quote

PRAng Posted July 4, 2008 Posted July 4, 2008 The rules state a show will be 9 1/2 minutes minimum and 11 minurtes maximum. Anything more or less is supposed to be penalized. Exactly. So why, if you add 3 minutes to your show on July 2, are you not getting penalties for being over time now or having been under time previously? I've been wondering the same thing. Are penalties "waived" for a certain period of time at the beginning of the season to account for unfinished shows? I think the existing rules should be enforced at every show, regardless of the time of the season. I'm not singling anyone out, just giving an example. I think all rules should apply to every corps, all the time, equally. Does anyone know the real answer here, as opposed to the speculation and accusations that we usually get? Quote

PRAng Posted July 4, 2008 Posted July 4, 2008 Yes Can you site a source? Sorry - since we have no idea who you are or what your background is, there's no reason to blindly believe you without a reliable source. Quote
