TomMoore Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Snow has been replaced by torrential rain. Buccaneers are much heartier souls on the high seas, so a parking lot with some water is nothing at all! CAMP THIS WEEKEND!!! --Saturday, March 20 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. - Brass --Sunday, March 21 9 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. - Brass & Percussion Twin Valley Middle School both days (go past the HS and take your first left - it's that easy to find!) The full musical ensemble played through the whole show last camp and there were definitely some eyebrows (and goosebumps) raised. The energy was incredible and the music book is kicked up a bunch from 2009. Excitement, drama, emotion, difficulty....it's all there, in spades. Add Bobby Jones' drill and Steve Vincent's color guard to it -- and you've got something really special! Join us! MMX Quote

Kyle B Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 I can't wait. Forecast for NYC is 68 on Saturday, so if it's anything like that, it will be great to go outside again and learn more drill! Quote
hairbear Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 Two days!!!! MMX I can't wait to see and hear this show! Quote
TomMoore Posted March 18, 2010 Author Posted March 18, 2010 I can't wait to see and hear this show! The music is out of this world, and IMO definitely a step above what the corps has put out in recent years. The way all the different voices and sections weave together leaves me in awe -- you would think that Messrs. Bocook, Hammond and Lortz were actually one person - that's how seamless it comes across. On top of it, there's imagery, drama, intensity and demand all over the place. Add this to the Buccaneers visual program, and we're all eager with anticipation of how this show will look and sound for audiences this summer. We're planning on putting out a highlights video and a podcast or two in short order. Sit tight and enjoy! And, in case you've got an itch that needs scratching, join us on May 8 for the SPRING PREVIEW! MMX Quote
TomMoore Posted March 20, 2010 Author Posted March 20, 2010 Less than 12 hours until we continue building this beast of a show! I've seen the first 25 pages of drill on paper -- can't wait to see it with bodies!!! MMX Quote
TomMoore Posted March 21, 2010 Author Posted March 21, 2010 (edited) Back from camp. Wow. After Mother Nature was such a miserable witch this winter, she really came through with two glorious days as the 2010 Buccaneers descended on Twin Valley Middle School with abandon. As of today, about a minute-and-a-half of drill is on the field and it's beautifully written stuff. It fits the mood and theme of the opener so well. The Roman Legion has arrived indeed! I can't remember a time when we had this much drill on the field this early -- can't wait to see it with that fantastic Respighi music attached to it.... Since Mother Nature was so gracious, ensemble rehearsal was extended and outside. Nothing like a parking lot arc to get the juices flowing! The glorious sounds of this glorious music echoed from the Twin Valley hilltop we were perched on and made all of us think about what the summer would bring. Great stuff! We were so pleased to have the Buccaneers color guard with us and are excited about what this talented group will bring to the show this summer. Our next rehearsal is next Sunday, March 28th, at Twin Valley. Join us! Edited March 22, 2010 by TomMoore Quote
