  1. Our corps was asked to be a replacement at the Sudbury show the other day because they went inactive. I do not know if we are going. I am sorry they will not be coming out. I wish them a lot of luck for next year. Why did they wait until the last minute to announce? I cetainly hope the kids find a place to march. I'm sure some of the other Canadian corps will open their doors. Best of luck Les Stentors. We will miss watching you perform this summer. Hurry back.
  2. 1 mellophone (Filled) 2 contras 1 assistant DM (Filled) There are still 2 contra spots left. It is not too late to join. First show is July 1. (Skyliners exhibition) Just can't make that commitment to a full tour? We are weekends only. Low tour fee. It is going to be a fun summer. Why not be part of it. Find out more at www.SpiritofNewark.org
  3. Spirit of New Jersey has 9 shows and an exhibition at Skyliners show on July 1. I'm looking foward to a great summer and seeing all of Div 2-3. Most of all connecting with old friends and making new ones. Good luck all and see you in Madison
  4. If you still looking for a place to march, we still have anly a couple of openings. 1 mellophone 2 contras 1 assistant DM Must be able to step in and learn quickly. Sponsorships are still available. Didn't make the corps you wanted to march in? The corps you were planning to join or march in no longer is active? Check out the Spirit of New Jersey webpage at www.Spiritofnewark.org and take a look. It looks like a fun summer ahead. Why miss out ? After all what are you doing this summer?
  5. While at the meetings in Pasadena, the 2/3 BOD actually talked about two different tour routes for the second season of 07. One will be from Wasington State heading south and the other will be through the Southwest heading west. It would be nice if the sponsors who say they will host a show will actually commit and hold to it. A lot of times a sponsor says they are going to host a show and either has problems with the stadium, the Board of Ed, the date. There are so many variables. Last season we lost a total of 5 shows on tour because sponsors canceled. We had to ask DCI to change our tour so we could get some shows before going to Boston. Unless the sponsors hold firm to the promise of hosting a show, we will be driving by the seat of our pants again.

  10. Now that LER is not coming out and Bandettes are still unsure, I was wondering if Americanos and Marion Glory are still coming out. The last bit of news Marion Glory had on their web site came on Jan 8 announcing camp was on Feb 10 - 12. Has DCI reevaluated them yet? How about the Americanos? When do they get reevaluated? Love to see ALL the corps back and doing well. LER and Bandettes, get well soon. Hope to see you on the field in 07.

  15. Thank you for the very nice comments. Last year was special for us. The kids did work extremely hard and their efforts payed off. This year we are looking to improve and hope to be performing more than once in Madison. I did not take your comment about drumming as anything other than you liked that part of our show. I want people to know that this year, we are planning to rock the house. The drumline, so far, is coming along extremely well. The hornline is full of veterans and growing. The new visual team is working hard to put a great show on the field this year. > Unless my memory is failing me, in Manchester, NH, last year I saw your equipment truck arrive on a flatbed. I looked at it roll by and I just smiled and thought, "Yeah, this is one gutsy, can-do corps." < Our truck blew a piston 100 miles north of Manchester as we were coming in from Canada. "That tow bill hurt!" The parents association was extremely instrumental (no pun intended) in helping us get a Rental Truck, that night, for the rest of the tour. "A big THANK YOU to the father of one child in Manchester South band." He arranged the truck AND a place for us to get our truck fixed. We met a lot of very nice people there that night. I hope you get to come out and see us this summer. We are planning some great things. And, believe me, we will pull the heartstrings and attempt to blow our fans away. "One Heart One Soul One Spirit"
  16. Spirit of New Jersey - “Though the show has yet to be named, this years music of Estancia - Dindi - La Suerte de Los Tontos (from Cuban Fire Suite), should provide some fun and excitement for 2006.” (NOTE: I like this. Looking forward to good drumming.) The corps' 2006 show was announced as 'A journey through various spanish motifs set in popular rhythms.' And with our new staff on board this year, good drumming is not the only thing you will hear or see this year. ^0^ ^0^ ^0^

  20. On Saturday, December 10, Spirit of New Jersey held their Open House for 2006. We want to thank all the kids who came out as well as the parents and helpers. We had a good turnout for the hornline and guard. The drumline grew to div 1 size by the end of practice. With the new staff in place, we were even able to get through part of our opener, Estancia. There are still a few spots open in the hornline and guard and the drumline seems to be pretty full, but are still accepting members. Next practice is January 11 in Burlington Twp. If you are still looking for a place to march, come and check us out. For information, email Bigelow1@comcast.net
  21. Have you gone to a corps camp and for some reason or another, you can't march there? Too much money, 100's kids looking to fill 20 open spots, too far to travel to each camp, was told to come back next year? :( Spirit of New Jersey has their Open House this Saturday, December 10, from 12pm to 9pm in Burlington NJ. If you live in the South Jersey, Philly, Delaware area, we are a short drive away. If you live in the New York/North Jersey area or in Central Jersey, we will bus you to practice. Lunch and dinner will be served. We have an excellent staff for 2006. Corps/tour fees are very inexpensive. We are going to Madison and staying through finals. This years show: Estancia - Dindi - Suerte de Los Tontos (from Cuban Fire Suite) We are looking for kids to fill all sections. No one will be turned away. Come and meet lots of friends you never thought you had. :P For more information, email Bigelow1@comcast.net Hope to see you Saturday.
  22. Voted for Charolette The other cities wouldnt be bad either. Here is one left off the list - Giants Stadium. Plus, I know this for cities who never hosted, but. . . Come back to Philladelphia. The Linc is a brand new stadium. Plenty of great moderatly priced hotels, a lot of schools in the Pa/NJ/Delaware area willing to house all the corps. Lots of things for the fans to see and do.
