  1. Anyone that can do this should. It is in fact, a TREMENDOUS BLAST. Join the ranks, don a uniform. Be apart of what makes drum corps the greatest activity in the world= hype. This year we will be defending three year perfect record against the seminal 2nd place marching group known to some as the Cheifs. (hiss hiss) (i believe we scored a cumulative score of about three millioin points, taking every caption twice, every year) See you all in LAX!!
  2. Well, welll, well. Mr. ajlemm, I am pleased to hear that you are interested in joining the ranks of the proud (never too proud) Blasters. As a three year vet, and inagural member ( I have recently been elected to the board of trustees), i will make it my goal to get you some music, sometime. I gauruntee this will be the most important perfromance of your entire career. TO ANYONE ELSE WHO READS TIS POST: The Basters are coming in legions. You cannot stop the inevitable, so you might as well join the ranks. www.tremendousblast.com
  3. Now I am a "boisterious" young fellow at times (especially when you get a couple drinks in me), but when I enter the a performance zone I shut my brew hole out of respect for the performers. I was in the snare I&E room where a large crowd ammassed at the back of the room. From what I saw, there where quite a few "seasoned" drum corps people there. Throughout the solos I was disgusted more and more by their lack of respect. At times I could barely hear the solos being played. (or the scripture being read for Lee's snare drum mass). Could I have moved forward? Yes. But why should I? I was there to see some kick ### drumming. (congrats to all who performed btw.) Now I am not trying generalize everybody that was in the room, but I just think that next year it should be made clear to the crowd that they are there to watch solos, and not discuss the finer points of drum corps. Want to socialize, meet me in Benningans next year and we'll do some Irish car bombs.
  4. When I started in this "pastime" I grew to love retreat, it gave me a time to reflect on this awsome activity that we all love. Also, hearing several hundred horn players belting out America/O' Canada was always a highlight of my nights. It seems that by losing this unifying deed, DCA/DCI are shifting the focus of the show to scores (which in most cases it is) not the pasion of drum corps. For me drum corps is all about the feeling of bretheren, and sisteren (if thats even a real word) that I get be being apart of something this monumental.
  5. Wow I never really thought about about how lucky we are here in Minnesota. I love it when people ask why doesn't Minnesota have a junior coprs? Why would we need one? We have three world class all ages corps. Any ways, after seeing this post I feel that I should toss my fishing line into the proverbial lake of new recruits. I march center snare for the Govenaires, and I absolutely love this corps. As a point that MBIquad2001 mde. once you find your home, you don't have to leave. I've been with the Govies now for 7 years, except a little age out exprience with the Colts for a year. The Govenaires are very performance oriented, we love to have a fun time entertain crowds and be rockstars. No matter where you go, you will be apart of the enormous Minnesota Drum Corps family.
  6. All I have to say is....... TREMENDOUS, TREMENDOUS OH,OH, TREMENDOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
