  1. Actually, I'm a dyslexic 16 today... Heh... Thanks, everybody!
  2. (OT) Starting at 9:00pm EDT this Saturday evening (05/01/2010), Diceman Radio presents: The 1962 National Dream Junior Competition Featuring: Audubon Bon Bons St. Kevin's Emerald Knights Garfield Cadets Blesssed Sacrament Golden Knights With an exhibition by the Woodsiders, along with readings from the Sept. 12, 1962 "Drum Corps News" as archived by NanciD... Enjoy! (/OT)
  3. Well, sorta... From Corpsreps: ----- "The Jolly Jesters was a senior marching and maneuvering drum corps based in Toronto, Ontario. The corps was founded by Ted Reilly in 1957. World Drum Corps Hall of Famer Vince Macciocchi came on board in 1960. The corps grew out of the Fifth Column Army Service Corps. In 1956 this group was invited to participate in a four-week competition sponsored by the Toronto Argonaut Football Club. To avoid conflict with union and army regulations, the corps rented clown costumes for this appearance and adopted the name "Jolly Jesters." To their surprise, the name/costume and show caught on. The corps decided that they would appear the following year in the clown uniforms. In 1957 the corps appeared in red and white satin clown uniforms, but the drum major/director Ted Riley dressed as a comical tramp. In 1960, however, the corps moved on from the clown motif and donned dress blues. The corps' name changed to "The Jesters" at that time. The Jesters merged with the Viscounts of Hamilton to form the Canadian Commanders in 1963. [DCW, 8.31.03, p. 32; Ron Allard, RAMD, 5/25/2000; Ed Law December 2006]" ----- I think the only thing I contributed was about the merger, but that was 10 years ago! Heh... And we have audio of them on Diceman Radio; they get played sometimes during the "How It All Began" Show on Sundays...
  4. Glenn Weber has a recording labelled "1971 Cabs at Manville, NJ", so he asked me if there was a senior show there... (We're now thinking they put on an exhibition at Sacred Heart's junior show.) But he also has one labelled, "1971 Blue Rock at Manville, NJ" - and it doesn't appear they were there in '71! So whoever sent them to him have.. mudddied the waters a bit... Heh...
  5. (OT) Does anyone remember a senior show held in Manville, NJ? All I can find the is the junior "Youth on Parade" show... (/OT)
  6. (OT) Diceman Radio's "Saturday Night Mystery Show" for 04/17/2010 Starting at 9:00pm EDT, Diceman Radio presents: The 1964 Barnum Festival Archer-Epler Musketeers (from Steel City Spectacle of Music) Interstatesmen Yankee Rebels Connecticut Hurricanes New York Skyliners We'll be reading the write-up from the back of the album jacket, as written by Carol Merkel... (/OT)
  7. And... we're finding out that ATT, Sbcglobal and others block email from diceman-radio servers! (We can receive but not send) So, we're working on another alternative... Sorry 'bout that!
  8. BTW, our email addresses have changed (as noted in the above "Guess Who Mailbox" link). Our new ones: Ron@diceman-radio.com NanciD@diceman-radio.com Ok, back to the subject at hand... Heh...
  9. (OT) Starting around 9:00pm EDT Saturday night (04/10/2010), Diceman Radio presents The 1968 Hershey Invitational Featuring: Pittsburgh Rockets Syracuse Brigadiers Long Island Sunrisers New York Skyliners Reading Buccaneers The Sunrisers aren't on the album, so we'll be playing their "March of Champions" performance... (Les Diplomates were also at the show - but I can't find *any* 1968 recording of the corps, so we'll have to skip them...) Enjoy! (/OT)
  10. Actually, they simply.. dropped all Personal Web Pages... So you'll have to go to diceman-radio.com to find the History until I get SrCorps.com re-directed...
  11. Yep! I have a vid of the entire '86 "Clap Show" the night before Finals - Steel's brake drums were COOL! (So was Sandy joining the Leads at the end of the show, with his "Booty Shake"!) The vid also has Sky's Company Front from the OTL to the 40 or 50, marching to the Street Beat... Someone on the tape yells out, "Don't play, Sky, just march! You look good!". (Probably the first - and last - time THAT was ever said!) Heh...
  12. I can also queue it up on DR tonight if you want...
  13. I remember having to coat the rotary with Vasoline - and hoping it'd work through the Exit. The beast would freeze up if the temp dropped or was used too much - it made arranging a.. challenge... This was the round one with the little tab you pushed "up and over" counter-clockwise towards the bell, not the one with the lever that was pushed down towards the feet... (In my time, the slide came between the two, but we used a LOT of old worn-out "hand-me-down" equipment...)
  14. So do I! Heh... I'll be reading the write-up off the back as the corps get played... (Too bad there wasn't a second recording of Hamden High School, Hurcs and N.D.-Ettes.) I'll probably just go by performance order instead of placement this time, which'll mean "cheating" by using the Bucs' DCA recording to start off. (The corps on the album are Sky, YR, Sun and Cabs, but Bucs were there, too). For those interested, this is Fleetwood album FCLP2225, and can be found here: http://www.fleetwoodsounds.com/catalog/pro...products_id=173 (Mine is all scratched to Schniznit, but Glenn Weber of preserveourcorpsmemories.com provided some decent recordings.) Again, it's Saturday night starting around 9:00pm EDT (I never stop what's playing at the top of the hour, so it may be a touch late getting going.) Oughta be fun - especially as NanciD usually "interjects" comments now and then... Heh...
  15. Boy, that reminds me: Which year did the Cabs have water on the top of the Tymps - '05, '07? (Rumor is that it first happened when the tymps got rained on at a rehearsal?) What a cool effect!
  16. (Says the man who held the hammer while Shakespeare was building the world's first Stage...)
  17. (Going a little OT) Saturday night at 9:00pm EDT, Diceman Radio presents: The 1969 "Fresh Air Fanfare" Hawthorne Caballeros Reading Buccaneers (DCA performance) Yankee Rebels Long Island Sunrisers New York Skyliners We'll be reading from the Fleetwood jacket cover... Enjoy!
  18. Not much can top Butchie arriving at the podium in a limo with 2 blondes on his arm and drinking champagne (86-ish, Albany) Jim Centorino arriving at the stadium - in a helicopter (the show the same day as his wedding)! Sky's giant dice The Statesmen in '86 with the "Curly" mask during the "Curly Shuffle"... Hurcs' huge oars in '93 ES' huge American Flags - and Phantom of the Opera boat Heat Wave playing charcoal grills Oh, and Kilties' "upside down Smiley"! Junior side: Trooper's yellow roses on the bottoms of the CG in the 70s Bridgemen with circus animals and "Gene, Gene the Dancing Machine" Madison with the sword fight on the rotating drumline VK with their shark, bull, beach balls, volcano and fish kites Crown's "ladders" with the CG on them depicting clouds... And who can forget The Cadets with their door and pink bunny!
  19. He was also mentioned in the writeup we read from back of the album we played on Saturday night's "Mystery Show"...
  20. (Goin' a little OT... ok, a LOT OT...) At the end of March, AT&T is cancelling all personal web pages - which means SrCorps.com will no longer be found at its old home... So I added it to the diceman-radio.com website at the following link: http://diceman-radio.com/SrCorps. It can also be found as a link on the main page... Thanks,
