  1. i hope that when your child gets on stage, they get booed. maybe it's not their fault that their teacher chose a play that you're not fond of, however...... you are still there to watch your child do what they love to do. support them, keep your mouth shut. the appropriate reaction to something you like is to clap, jump up and down, scream, and feed off of the emotion from the performer. if you don't like something, don't react negatively. you are the dumb one here, you paid alot of money to go boo at one of the best drum corps in the country and make yourself look like an idiot. i'm sure that your child being in danger during a production doesn't matter to you, because it's more important that you voice your imature opinion. to those of you that booed tonight there at the show, and in the theatres.... you are a pitiful excuse for a person and a drum corps "fan". i am ashamed to be affiliated with you, and i look forward to the day that you maybe realize that your actions have now impacted not only the performers and performance on the field, but the experience of the people around you. when any coprs comes on the field, watch them perform, even cheer more for the corps you like, but don't diminish the quality and importance of what you feel should, or should not be happening on the field because you are immature and not ready to expose yourself to something new. after the cavaliers came off the field, i saw jeff fiedler from the stands furious about something, assuming that it was about the poor quality of the field. you would expect the same thing for your corps, you have put all of this work into creating a product to get to a field that doesn't have hashmarks? come on now..... in case you didn't realize, those are an integral part of marching CLEAN drill. that's like hosting a championship football game and forgetting to put up the goal posts. don't criticize the cadets for expecting the field to be in proper marching condition, you would expect the same thing. try, just try, tomorrow if you attend friday's competition to sit back and respect each performer. watch the cadets amazing drill, watch blue devils great drum feature, be amazed by cavaliers integration of music and visual, listen to cadets play like they've got nothing to lose, close your eyes and let phantom take you away. don't be immature, act like you would like to if YOU or YOUR CHILD were performing. it's that simple. here's to great competition tomorrow....... Cadets, take it all the way!!!!!
  2. wow cadets, can't wait to see that on the field!!!
  3. it'll be interesting to see what you all think when the cavaliers begin their narration during the show this year.
  4. you know it's funny. the last time a topic was out like this about the cadets was in '05. people hearing about injuries, saying the show was maybe too demanding and too different? also, people not sure how it could be pushing the envelope. i at the last minute was able to attend memorial brass on sunday and wow, this drum corps is great. sure there is speaking, and a good bit of it, but if you listen to the words being said you follow it just like a story and the music is a great soundtrack to get across the message of their production. i think what they've done with blue shades is great, yes it hasn't been done before and it doesn't sound like the other versions of blue shades that are out there, but that's what makes it good. the whole idea of practice and the staff quote section is great. what they said during the closer kept pulling me in, and got goose bumps just from what they were saying and then the corps came in to top it off. without a doubt strongest brass program i've heard all year and had the opportunity to be at the blue devils paviliion performance as well as a few other camps here and there with crown and pr. very excited to see this on the field, certainly rivals the opportunities for crown reaction like 2000, 2002. cadets, bring it home!!!!
  5. I think that it is completely ridiculous that you all regardless of what happens, find a way to dislike The Cadets. They have given the opportunity to someone who does this essay in WHAT THEY BELIEVE IN, to share it with everyone else. The fans, the corps, the people that watch the show, anyone and everyone. Yes I know this is a message board for people to express their feelings, but it's old now. Enjoy what it is that the performers are doing out on the field FOR YOU. Yes the activity has changed, and it will continue to change. What did people think when everyone stopped high marking time, and actually did drill as we know it today? It was met with skepticism but look where it has brought us. What did people think when the number of people allowed in a division 1 corps was raised to 135? They didn't want to change it, they wanted drum corps to be the way it was when they marched it, oh I'm sorry I really don't want to allow 7 other people each year the opportunity to have their lives changed by doing the activity that we say that we love? To those of you who chose to only complain and criticize....... You have been saying "I will no longer support the Cadets." Or I will boo at whatever it is that they chose to do only because I don't like what they're doing. This message is for you. They don't want your support. They will do what they do with or without you. This activity provides invaluable lessons to those who choose journey through the ups and downs of the activity as we know it today. The performers on the field deserve people willing to listen and watch the hard work that they've put into a program. Try, just try, when any drum corps comes on the field this summer, allow yourself to watch and listen with an open mind. You won't know if you like it until you see and hear it. Think about the things that have CHANGED YOUR LIFE FOR THE BETTER, that you were once hesitant about doing or being a part of..... Keep an open mind, and if there's something you don't like, keep it to yourself. Please be the mature person that you pretend to be.
  6. handbrake works great. you can use it to rip any of the extra audio files available on the finals dvds with the master multi-cam video file. also you can use something like mac the ripper and just have it rip the video_ts folder to your hard drive, then making it available to watch that video_ts folder in your regular dvd player program. also for mac people, DO NOT BUY FAST DVD COPY or DVDxDV. neither of these programs provide real support and with extensive use of these they will become more unstable especially since they do not provide updates or realiable or decent customer support.
  7. looks and sounds like the youngest blue devils of many recent years.
  8. Cadets '96 hornline was one of the finest hornlines top to bottom I've ever had the privaledge of listening to. They were simply breathtaking. With the addition of the outstanding percussion (marching and pit) there was no other performing ensemble that year that I fealt could win over them. 1996, as many other years, yeilded some of the most memorable performances and talented performers that this activity that we all love has had to offer. The Blue Devils and Madison Scouts were exceptional as well that year. Take a listen to Cadets '96 again and really listen to how well they executed they show that was written for them. yours in listening......
