  4. Press Release February 23, 2009 Capital Regiment Authorized for Active Status From the Office of Capital Regiment It is with extreme excitement to announce that Capital Regiment has been approved by Drum Corps International to officially re-enter active status starting with the 2009 season as a participant in the Open Class Division. After a two year absence from active status and a lot of work organizationally, it is exciting to be able, once again, to provide a structure that allows another outlet for students to experience the drum corps activity. Capital Regiment has been working with Drum Corps International on the evaluation process and has complied with all their requests. Capital Regiment was visited by Drum Corps International on November 17, 2008. That visit also included a meeting with the Board of Trustees for the organization. Capital Regiment was again visited by Drum Corps International on February 14th and 15th during our February camp. The entire Capital Regiment Organization would like to extend our appreciation to Drum Corps International, and all parties involved in the process of evaluating us for the return. We are excited about the decision and looking forward, once again, to providing our members the drum corps experience.
  5. I know my corps wants to eventually go World Class. Financially it's the only way to go. For the students to have a full tour and perform in as many shows as they can, they almost have to go World. With the Grayed out World Class only shows, the opportunity to perform in shows is limited for Open Class corps. Not to mention that DCI pays more money for World Class corps to perform. Further DCI makes Open Class pay for housing at DCI Finals but World class don't pay.. In fact I'm sure the fee the Open Class corps pay for housing at finals probably pays for the world class housing sites at some level. Fair??? For a corps who wants to perform to get a great tour and be in the big show... you have to go world.. Just my take..
  6. CAPITAL REGIMENT is doing great!! All sections are doing great!! The staff is incredible and the members are Awesome!! We are looking forward to turning some heads this summer!

  15. I may have jumped the gun on shows. Even the top 12 corps are only doing about 25-27 shows. We will submit our wish list to DCI and see what we get from them. We will also do a few parades and concerts and do a middle tour camp. We have a few idea's about performing a few local events.
  16. Again, another unknowing comment. This did not happen. If you were anywhere involved with the program you would know this is not true. Your lack of knowledge and second hand rumors are the reason all this stuff has been blown out of proportion. You stated in an earlier post "That's interesting. I talked to Dave Kampschroer (they guy who does the evaluations) and he has heard nothing of it.... " In fact he was the one who came to Columbus to do the first part of the evaluation. Now I see your agenda is dogging out Rick Bays. If you have such a problem with him. Please call him and discuss off line. Personal attacks on DCP on an individual are just un called for. He has done an incredible job of building and making changes to make this edition of Capital Regiment the best ever. Your invitation still stands. Maybe you should come to camp and meet him for yourself. No more comments from my couch, it's a four day weekend for me to enjoy with my family and be thankful that I can teach a drumcorps in the same city I live in, with a bunch of incredibly great people, staff, volunteers, and in the membership. Go CAPITAL REGIMENT!!! Let's bring on "The STORM" C
  17. roosevelt, As the Program Coordinator and a big part of Capital Regiment I personally invite you to our next camp. Come see for yourself how things are going, then you can post all the good stuff you see going on. I don't know your affiliation or why your so interested in the past of Cap Reg and the future of Cap Reg. but better come see for yourself so you can get a first hand look. Please check for details! We would love to have you as a member or a volunteer. Thanks C
  18. Just to clarify a few things. Capital Regiment has talked to DCI and is currently going through the evaluation process. We have sent in the information requested from DCI and have already had one visit in Columbus from a member of the evaluation committee. The camp went very well. We need more horns and guard. I have had many emails and phone calls since camp, I suspect we will more than double both horn and guard numbers at the December camp. Keep on the look out for a bus ride from Virginia Beach!! WE have a great staff of educators and a great group of young adults who are going to help us put Capital Regiment back on the field!! Keep the Faith Respectfully Yours Carl
  19. It's great to hear things are going good at Frontier.. Keep up the great work!!

  21. Capital Regiment will return to the field in 2009 to boldly explore all stages and facets of a disturbed state of atmosphere in “The Storm”. Intriguing percussive elements, dynamic and innovative musical arrangements and entrancing visual effects will be used to depict the calm before the storm; the fury and panic felt with the arrival of the storm; the eeriness felt in the eye of the storm; and the immense solace and peace found in the passing of the storm. Coming soon to a field near you… experience “The Storm”. Capital Regiment’s first audition camp will be Friday, November 21 to Sunday, November 23 for Brass, Percussion, Guard.
