  1. Yeah, but from what Kaye was saying (she's already there), we need about another week and a half of that kind of weather!
  2. I live in Mississippi (for only another week, thank God!)...there is no local drum corps.
  3. The Gansch-Horn is far and away the best sounding, most versatile horn I have ever played or owned, bar none (and I've gone through a lottttt!).
  4. It's all relative...you've just never seen me be a jerk. :)
  5. It is in mint condition...and it is being sold for $500. That makes me a jerk how? I told you in a polite way that if your sensibility was offended by a great value that I could rip you off.
  6. I bought it used for $500...so I'm selling it for $500. I'm moving and getting rid of things I don't need....this bugle is one of those things. If you're offended by my price and would like to pay $700 or $750 for the horn, I'd be more than happy to tell the person who has reserved the horn do deal and change my price just for you.
  7. Horn is on reserve...thanks!
  8. So nobody needs a Powerbore Soprano?
  9. Kanstul Powerbore Soprano One Year Old - Mint Condition $500 includes shipping and case.
  10. I've got to think that if they were good enough to win that they would have somehow managed to place in the top three or maybe win a caption. And?! How many times was VK or Madison the most crowd pleasing show in DCI? I'm pretty sure they won exactly the number of championships that they deserved (actually, Madison won one more than they deserved). crowd pleasing ≠ best executed
  11. Hey genius...the post to which you refer doens't appear to have been written by anyone in the Renegades. Notice the "they" and not "us"? That could have been a tip off.
  12. Of course there won't be. We don't have 35 members, so we don't exist in DCA's eyes. :P
  13. The Marine Drum & Bugle Corps ordered their new line of Kanstul 2 valve bugles last year. The order was supposed to be for three valves, but there was a mistake on the purchase order. I heard this directly from two members of the Marine D&B.
  14. My last First SGT, when he was obtaining his doctorate, used fiber optic cameras and inserted them down his throat while playing to observe how the throat constricted when breating and using different tonguing methods. He's a clarinet/sax player, but his dissertation was still extremely interesting.
  15. I don't get into assinine statements such as "<insert name> is the best player in America". Wayne B. is an incredibly talented trumpet player.....I am not saying that he isn't. I think to say that he is "the best", however, is foolish. There are more complete trumpet players out there.
  16. Read it again. I don't count either of the two years I referenced as a loss or a waste of time. I have all the happy memories, the friendships similar to anyone else that marched drum corps. If you think I joined in Carolina Crown, in it's third year of existence, to take the world by storm and win trophies, then you are being obtuse. I had fun in '92 and it was a great summer. I merely stated that it sucked to lose in finals to a corps that we were better than. It's my opinion....deal with it. Oh...and if you think you wouldn't have had some extra happy memories if you had have won, then you are again being obtuse. It doesn't mean (and I didn't say) that by not winning everything you did means nothing. It doesn't even take anything away from what you did do. However, winning DOES add something. I'm sure the entire Renegade corps would have left their championship medals on the field had they won.....please.
  17. The tune "Friend Like Me" was recorded with Wayne's own big band, Maynard does not play on the tune and it was not recorded in 2006. Wayne played "Friend Like Me" (from Disney's Aladdin) with his band at the MF Stratospheric Tribute, which was long before 2006. It was out on the CD "You Call This a Living in 2002. On the tune "Maynard and Waynard", from the 2007 released "Plays Well With Others", Maynard does appear and the two do trade solos. No need...my information is correct. My bad...I was referencing a former page that wasn't run by Wayne's people. Oh well...we all know about opinions, so I don't guess I can really knock you there. However, if that's your opinion....then it is my opinion that you need to hear more trumpet players in America.
  18. Wayne is a complete bad ###. I still think you need to classify when saying outlandish things like "top 3 in America", but whatever. However, the "Friend like me" clip is Wayne fronting his own big band and Maynard is not on that recording. The myspace page is not run or affiliated with Wayne...it's just a fan.
  19. "Not really?" I referenced two years of my drum corps experience in which being the better corps and losing sucked. Nobody I marched with enjoyed being the better corps and losing. You're the first person I've ever heard say they would prefer it. Wow. I have all the friends and memories that you are speaking of. I've even got a championship ring, so that's not the point. The point is that being better and losing sucks. I'm guessing your referencing Lee has to do with other posts, but I just wanted to clarify my pretty clear post and your response.
  20. That sort of mentality rarely seems to help the people that are getting the shaft. I know, from my own experiences, I am referring to 1992 DCI Division II Championships and 2000 DCA Class A Championships. They both still #### me off.
  21. Well, in that case, #### that. I'm sure that Pioneer, too, will play band instruments as soon as they can....then they can go to hell with the rest of those band corps.
  22. I would have to agree. I know that I, along with some other purists, have withdrawn financial support of corps NOT using G Bugles. This hasn't had any real effect, however. I would be more inclined to donate money to the Pioneer's general operating fund or equipment fund if the corps made some sort of statement about their intention to stay in the key of G.
