  1. :feednotroll: Go practice, kid Anyway, I don't really like Ticheli, but Postcard and Symphony No. 2 are pretty top notch, so hopefully they're used..
  2. I rarely listen to drum corps anymore, I definitely listened to it semi-regularly in high school, because I hadn't done it yet.. There was still a fantastical element. Now I've done it, and I've been fortunate enough to be in a lot of really stellar ensembles and receive a good musical education, which a lot of older drum corps people are receiving anyway (if they're music majors anyhow). I get a tad upset when some people talk about drum corps as if it's the be all end all of music and as close to professional brass playing as one can get. Drum corps was never really about that for me, if I wanted that I could have easily done something else over the summer. Long story short, I agree with what Michelle said.
  3. Oh gawd Marty my goim is kaput. Vut am I even doing on a computa it's Yom Kippur, oy vei
  4. I won't rest until a drum corps plays Different Trains by Steve Reich. I'll cry and cry until I get what I want.
  5. Excuse me sir, but domes actually make it harder for you to hear anything...
  6. STAY ON TARGET! It's no good down here, I can't maneuver! STAY ON TARGET We're too close! STAY ON TARGET .....LOOSEN UP
  7. Who's calling anyone a poor player? You have to be at least DECENT to make a corps, the staff takes care of the rest. And my evidence? Umm...I know people. Stop making it sound like I'm bashing people, I just want flutes man :(
  8. Nice butt Man guys, ingenious really doesn't like me :( Don't worry, I still love you friend.
  9. And you're basing this on...what? And let's not single out any corps please? That can only spell bad news, and it's not fair.
  10. Did R&B groups in the 50s raise their fanbase by adding electric guitars and using a lot of distortion to become rock groups. This answer is yes. To their credit, they don't have amateur musicians in their ranks. In drum corps' case it would be all of them.
  11. No, every corps has their 20 worst players. You act as if the Blue Devils hand pick all of their musicians from the finest of New York conservatories. Sorry man, but they've got lemons too. Every corps does. But we're veering grossly off topic. Narration is the bee knees
  12. I go to school with kids from all of those corps, great musicians. You're still kind of missing my point. I'm poking anyone in the eyes and saying, "YOU DON'T BELONG HERE". You are responding to this way to strongly.
  13. Well hey man, there have only been membership limits for...how many decades now? I think people will get over it. You kind of missed my point. There are more corps besides the top 6 or whatever for one. Reduce the size of hornlines and they'll sound better. More concentration of talented players, even in the "lower" corps. It's foolproof. Oh please, that's silly. Who wants to see a cello player marching? If you're smart you put them in the pit! Besides, I think string players have better things to do with their time than join a drum corps, unless they were getting paid. One step at a time folks. You wouldn't really need strings, it'd be much more economically feasible to just use the synthesizers and a PA system.
  14. Yes, keeping them smaller is the way to go. The concept of a sound ripping my face off just sounds like bad playing. You can still have loud, full, lush sounds from a drum corps with woodwinds and other instruments. Any decent music ensemble I would hope would know how to achieve these different levels of color and dynamics. Drum corps is more about doubling up than loud chainsaw brasslines.
