  1. Yamato has always been up there. How many bronze and silvers do they have? I remember it being 4 bronze and 2 silver, although I may remember wrong. Revolution has won it before, but I have no clue if they and Raiders are staying D III. Revo had the numbers last year to go D II easily. Now Elite did outstanding, being only a little behind Capital Sound. The gap though from Raiders to them was 7.15 This prediction though is a little early, I haven't even seen any show announcements. Who is playing what? If you know please tell me. And how about any staff changes? Any corps have some major or minor changes in their staff?
  2. I would say Argyle (Texas state 2A champs 03 and 05) could have a chance....if they just added a guard....UIL doesn't give points for guard.
  3. Do not forget, the camp fee is for every camp they go to. So, Nov. Dec. Jan. Feb. Mar. Apr. and May...7x($25+$5)=$210....
  4. No Madison? that 12th spot is always a tough one to predict...g-men/spirit/colts/x-men/cascades have been there and mandarins/cap reg/and southwind might come up too...
  5. When did BOA start anyway? Plus, amps have been used by high school bands for a while, but then again, it is rather hard to hear a flute solo without it. I think "The Storm"(title?) performed a few years back at Texas state marching contest was a nice use of amps. Starts off with a "reporter" annoucing a hurricane coming.
  6. Well, from CDs I've heard of old shows, I can barely hear the bass (aka contras). And the recordings of the past few years are very pit heavy since the microphones are right over them. The old mics from pre DVD shows couldn't pic up the contra sounds unless they were by themselves.
  7. Hard to say this early when I haven't even had a chance to see some camp videos. hmm... phantom cadets bluecoats madison cavies scv boston bd bk crown crossmen colts or jsu then a tight race between semis. I am expecting some great shows for this season.
  8. Different people have different placement for notes on trombone, and therefore, are out of tune sometimes, especially while marching. Contras look like concert tubas but are hafted on the shoulder with the bell facing forward, better in tune than all the sousaphones I have ever played on. And btw, before you start dissing those in drum corps, several corps kids are in sports like football and soccer, and corps nuts are not bandos, those who march call the non-marchers bandos. Try marching around with a euphonium or (for your level) tuba at horns down for 5 minutes, then you'll see that you might be a little afraid of the low brass, let alone the rest of the line.
  9. WHAT!!?!?!? Ahhhh, and I even heard Cavaliers and Blue Knights are, but I'm trying to double check that. Of course I accidentily left off Bluecoats, sorry, I wrote the other one pretty quick. so .... Bluecoats Blue Devils Carolina Crown Cadets Crossmen Madison Scouts Santa Clara Vanguard are definite and ----------- Cavaliers and Blue Knights are under the scope.
  10. If Revolution could do that, wow, Texas would be able to showcase the reason Cadets, Crossmen, Madison, Blue Devils, Santa Clara, and several other corps come to Texas to recruit. Most likely a great contender for D I finals.
  11. Have a fun season! I read nothing but good news from you guys, keep it up!
  12. Nice promo, are TV stations showing it around their area?
  13. Glad you guys joined the picture, I hope you have a great season.
  14. Is there a website I could check out to see how it is coming along? Or should I just keep looking at the websites of Frontier, GCS, Trinity, and Revolution?
  15. Where was Legend of Texas based out of? Wasn't it Lubbock?
  16. They had the numbers to make it last year at their first camps, but then lost them. I hope they can compete this year, I would love to see more drum corps out of Texas. Frontier, Gulf Coast Sound, Revolution, and Trinity were awesome at the Alamo, and I hope to see the Austin Stars this coming summer as an addition to the Texas family. BTW, does anyone know if the Texas drum corps preview is going to happen in 06? edit:spelling errors
  17. this thread reminds me of the beginning of the summer when Yamato and Revolution were proposed to win, then what happens, Tei Pei Yofu (spelling?) and Raiders come out on top. We will not know till a week or two before finals how this corps will stack up against the rest.
  18. Anything on a possible coming back from Lone Star? Or should I still dream? :P
  19. Can someone get me a pic of a marching french horn? I know a few high school near houston and austin use french horns while marching...thats why I said what I did.
  20. YES!!! I love Kanstuls! Eh, french horns are not allowed...rules for brass sums up to "valved brass instrument that is bell front," hence why there are no t-bones.
  21. Ok, I just heard rumors. I hate how I always hear these rumors, lol.
  22. 2nd or lower, maybe there will be another race between Academy, Spartans, and ECJ(if ECJ and Spartans stay D II).
  23. corps...kinda like sheep, plural form....sheep.
  24. Dont forget about Cadets and Crossmen coming to Texas too. Several of my friends are trying out for them. And as for Revo, rumor has it (remember ... rumor) that they folded because they lost some members in 04 that put them under the requirements for a DII corps. Thats only what I've heard. It may or may not be true.
