  1. Looks like those events they have also require TABC which you need to be 18 (in most cases) to get.
  2. Drumcorpspops I assume that you have been with the corps at some point in time. Mind shining some light on who you are and what you mean?
  3. Wasn't there a social site specifically for corps members? It was kind of like a facebook/myspace mesh, but I can't find it anymore....
  4. ok, now its starting to get screwy.....
  5. True, plus one of his students helped him with Ronald Reagan high school as well...
  6. Yes, and an El Paso show and a Lubbock show. Several corps would clinic in Texas as well (helps recruit) but with this line up... always on the road with no time for clinics.... I realize this is more than other states... but Texas has a huge crowd of interest for drum corps.
  7. Is it just me, or did Texas get screwed with only 3-4 show this year? Two days of Dallas and Houston each... then San Antonio, then Denton. Thats it?
  8. Okay, so I was just browsing through a few of the inactive corps websites and saw that Capital Regiment is gearing up for a season... Did anyone else know about this movement? Were they waiting for approval from DCI to announce anything?
  9. Some names get lost in your head when you are posting, don't take a huge offense to it. Perhaps you should just think of switching Fevers name with Memphis for the poster, since Fever isn't going to finals.
  10. Lemmegive this a shot... 1st/2nd - a struggle between Teal and Surf IF Teals' drill is better. (IMO, their drum break drill wasn't up to par.) 3rd - Spartans, take a hit due to staff changes 4th-6th - A battle royal between BDB, SCV, and Revolution. 7th -Fever 8th/9th - Raiders and Memphis, R - Program is consistent but everyone just gets better, quicker. M - Memphis, hurt slightly due to staff changes. 10th - Oregon ... May actually top Memphis or Raiders with the group of Seattle kids going their way. 11th - Dutch Boy, get the GE, but it isn't enough 12th - Velvet Knight, overcome Impulse in a last week struggle
  11. Can't remember (and probably won't know since Copyright laws do not permit Fever's show to be on the DVD) , I just know they used more field than memphis.
  12. IMO, remember, just my opinion. I think that Memphis and Dutch Boy had easy shows, While Fever, Raiders, Revolution, and Oregon Crusaders had harder (but not as clean) shows. If you watch Memphis sound, I don't think you will ever see a member take more than a six-to-five step, go past the 30 yard line on either side, or go behind the back hash. Dutch Boy had GE because they made a little rocket on the field and "blasted" off, which to me, is a high school thing to do, not drum corps (although their guard was amazing.) Fever was almost clean (few spots here and there) but overall difficulty was shown, enough to beat Memphis. Revolution was dirty, percussion overpowered the brass line, guard was not impressive, but drill and visual was much more demanding than Dutch. Look at the scores, Revolution topped Dutch on brass, percussion, and visual performance, but Dutch killed Revolution in guard and GE.
  13. I expect them to make the open class activity more competitive. Instead of allowing easy clean shows to win (achievable), they will base scoring on difficulty and achievement. This way corps that don't go past the 30's, play the same music for 6 minutes, make cute drill forms on the field, or play twinkle twinkle off the field get huge GE points to beat out other innovative corps designs.
  14. Think about this. Who used narration/singing the first year amps were in use? Not Cadets.... but Boston and Crown!
  15. I agree, Oklahoma is no fun... Here is a little joke.... Why doesn't Texas fall into the Gulf of Mexico? Because Oklahoma sucks so much....
  16. Impulse had staff change last year due to VK coming out while being defending champs. 2005 Raiders were defending champs and I am sure they had some staff changes. Everyone has changes, it's called adaptation. I'm sure Spartans will be fine, just have to push through any challenge. It may be rough, but in the end, drum corps is still drum corps, no matter if it be with the same staff, or 90% rookies. Best of luck Spartans.
  17. It isn't bad at all. Now try the one day of practice for the Arizona show at Lake Havasu. That was bad.
  18. You make life long friends who are willing to help you at the drop of a pin. You become a better musician and marcher, and sometimes, a better leader. (lead by example) You learn how to do your own laundry, keep your space clean, adapt to various changes. You, define you.
  19. From the looks of it, several camps will be held in Georgia, but you may have to fly into San Antonio for spring training since a majority of their members will be from the Texas area. I think this is a good move though. Maybe they could try to cater to the ECJ kids too.
  20. This is kind of sad. I know from pictures of past seasons, Revolution didn't turn out with great brass numbers in 2005 or 2007, but they made it work. Wonder why the staff is *to me* just giving up. Yes, I know it is hard to recruit brass, but at least give it til January or February to call it quits.
  21. My friend who marched said they rented a boat on their free day. They were then known as the boat crew.
  22. I found out what happened at the pier. Two seperate groups of members (about 3-5 each) went OUTSIDE of the pier *one was known as the boat crew...don't ask cuz I don't know*, but they left the premises of the pier, and therefore your director probably thought you would leave the area too and just did not want to deal with it.
