  1. We wish. As it costs them five hundred bazillion gazillion quadrohydrobagillion pounds to make it States-side, I can't imagine they'll be back soon, but I DO believe that eventually they WILL be back. Thanks for coming out, Kidsgrove. Your show was wonderful, as were your people.
  2. Of course, cymbal lines are no longer necessary because that's covered in the pit. Just like contralines are no longer necessary, because their parts are covered in the pit.
  3. If by definition a SINGLE year's outcome disqualifies the concept of "momentum", you would be correct. However, I think you are picking at straws. In business, chart graphs that show "momentum" rarely ever show a constant upwards motion, there are small ups and downs. I was referring to their overall progress.
  4. Yes. This is actually possible. I LOVE the Blue Devils, but can't remember the last time they were my favorite show (2003-4?) And, as an alumnus, I would never slam them and couldn't be prouder of their accomplishments.......they just ain't first on my playlist nowadays.
  5. As much as I hate quoting myself, Carolina Crown and the Bluecoats have CONSISTENTLY been achieving audience entertainment as well as competitive momentum in this area.
  6. I agree that both shows were my favorite performances. I agree that I didn't find the Blue Devils as entertaining. I can't agree that they deserved to win. BD was just too darned blasted good. Another indication of why we need to bring entertaining the audience back into the equation more relevantly than has been done in recent years before they start going away.
  7. I just farted. Sorry......it's just that the thread deteriorated to the point where I felt mentioning my fart was OK.
  8. His point might have had something to do with the fact that cymbal lines are more likely to be fielded by corps that have extra spots to fill.
  9. Mapex drums...........Never heard of them. What other corps are using Mapex percussion?
  10. Since it has been made public that you are now our new Corps Director, I hereby soften the aforementioned statement. Hate to lose your conducting talents, but your off the field organizational talents are probably more of what the corps needs right now. Congratulations on your new position.
  11. FYI Tony...........#### is actually a five letter word, spelled thusly: #####. Glad I could help
  12. This post effectively killed any and all credibility you HAD or may EVER have in my eyes.........Not that I think you really care, but there it is. "2007 everybody was bad but BD"???? Do you even GO to shows?????? WHY is a person such as yourself even involved in drum corps? Seems to me all you get out of this activity that we all love so much is a throbbing headache. Methinks you should be ingesting aspirin instead of DCP traffic.
  13. I am not sure what, if anything, you are getting at...........but I'm going to try this. You win. I lose. Hope this helps you out a little.
  14. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I'm hoping that Little Jeffrey is one of the people starring in the upcoming "Saw 3D".
  15. More horns is always a good thing. However, this really isn't any kind of a record for the organization. Garfield Cadets marched 84 horns in 1986.
  16. You are obviously looking at the issue thru your OWN glasses, as opposed to trying to look at it thru the glasses of another.
  17. Ask the general public who would easily drop major cash to see Lady Gaga, but who would rather cut out their larnyx than see ANYTHING corps/band related.
  18. I like this model. It is STILL competitive, just in a different way. People might feel different about that 25 / 35 dollar ticket if they have a voice in who was the most entertaining that evening.
  19. I wholeheartedly endorse this opinion as well :)
  20. And I think that the Renegades were the best tenth place corps in the history of DCA. Before anyone takes that statement the wrong way, let me explain: I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but the overall programming/execution/entertainment level of the DCA corps this year seems to be on a whole new, higher level than last year. Anyone else notice that? Ordinarily I would be bummed about 10th, but having seen all the other corps from 2010 I really can't be bummed. EVERYONE had a great, quality, entertaining and CLEAN show this year. I certainly hope this upwards swing of quality in DCA performances keeps taking steps upwards and forwards. Looking forward to 2011. P.S. My Favorite show outside of SF Renegades this year: Statesmen. Hands down.
  21. PLEASE, PLEASE don't tell me you are stepping down as the main DM!!!!!!!!!! That would SUCK. Good DMs are very hard to find.
  22. It depends. Some corps have enough leftover spots that to fill them with a cymbal line makes the most sense. Other corps have such competition for spots that they feel that fielding a cymbal line is a waste. All I know is if the Santa Clara Vanguard ever retires their cymbal line I am going to kill someone.
