  1. It is standard to leave them off the "public" schedule until evaluations are over. Gulf Coast Sound (DCA-Houston) showed up on the DCI website within a week of us passing the evaluation in 2006-ish, but we were tentatively scheduled in a show months before that. I suspect it will be the same with Revolution and Forte, and final evaluations are likely during the May camps because that is when the full guard and drumlines are back after WGI finals.
  2. Yep, Music on the March will be at Davenport Central High School instead of Dubuque Senior High School. We are really excited to work with the band boosters at Central for this event, and can't wait to take the brand new field in Dubuque in 2013. Tickets are on sale NOW: http://www.colts.org/tickets.asp Music on the March 2, which is a DCI Open Class seeding event, will also be at a new location to be named very soon.
  3. Next camp is April 27-28th, so you might get a show announcement after that I got goosebumps listening at the last camp, but I am not exactly a non-bias spectator... Anyway---shameless plug: Show tickets for Waukee IA, Davenport IA, and Olathe KS are on sale now on the Colts website. Come see the best drum corps perform in beautiful corn country! http://www.colts.org/tickets.asp

  6. I don't know the details, but we found out several weeks ago that there will be no Davenport show this year. The 2 Dubuque shows will be moving to a new location this summer since our in-town stadium is under consturction---and we are really excited for for the remodeling job! Watch for more info on the new location, you might find it closer to you then Dubuque Senior High School ;) http://www.colts.org/tickets.asp
  7. Ticket sales for Brass Impact just went live on the Colts Website! http://www.colts.org/brassimpact_kc12.asp This is our 2nd year at the Olathe NW Stadium, in the Kansas City area. This a great show site with lots of parking, easy access to the stadium, and a huge concession area with seating under the bleachers (And shaded from the summer sun!). Tickets are all reserved and range from $15-$40. The sooner you order, the higher and closer to the 50 yard line you will be! Special discounts for groups of 20+. 8. The next Colt Cadet camp/clinic is on Sunday March 18th from 1-5 at Jefferson Middle School. No cost to attend, and no RSVP is required! We had about 70 students at our last camp, including 7th grade woodwinds trying out their first flag/drum/horn all the way to all-state musicians with 6 years of marching experience. Lots of instructional staff and current Colts are here to help everyone succeed! See more about the Colt Cadets here: http://www.colts.org/cadets/cadets.cfm
  9. Colts and Colt Cadets are both marching cymbals this year, and I suspect that will continue for many years to come.
  10. This clip is from a concert at the end of the camp weekend. Mix of Colts, prospective rookies, and a few Colt Cadets getting experience for the future spent the weekend at the Dubuque Five Flags Center working on skills. Lots of good things happening, lots of folks already RSVP-ed for our next couple of camps, but we always have room for a few more to drop by! A few photos from camp have been posted on the Colts facebook page to show off the cool new campsite :) December Camp will be at the pretty-new Roosevelt Middle School, more info here: http://www.colts.org/join.asp
  11. The Parent Boosters for the Colts and Colt Cadets are in the running as well! They also support a summer band program for beginners, and several music ensembles at Prescott Elementary (Arts Charter School) including a choir and a steel drum ensemble: http://apps.facebook.com/chasecommunitygiving/charities/421057445-drum-corps-parents-boosters-club?src=vote_share&ref=nf Thanks for your votes :)
  12. http://www.colts.org/news/news.cfm?news_id=579 Continuity Key Ingredient Of 2012 Percussion Staff November 6, 2011 Colts Staff David Nelson returns in an expanded role of Percussion Caption Head and Battery Arranger. Nick Ryan returns in the role of Bass Technician and adds Battery Coordinator to his duties. Jerry Carpenter is back again as Front Ensemble Arranger. Craig Myers returns as Pit Technician. In addition, some talented new instructors come to the Colts with a wealth of drum corps experience. "The staff is really excited about the continuity of approach that has developed after coming together in 2011," said Nelson. "A solid core group from last season, along with the infusion of some great new talent, is going to provide the percussion section a sturdy foundation on which to build in 2012 and beyond." Full Staff listed at: http://www.colts.org/staff.asp
  13. Last year Colt Cadets cost $675 for the season (Tuition + uniform). We are kind of unique because kids live at home or with host families during the week between shows, and we stay pretty close to Dubuque most of the summer. Overnight trips typically include 4th of July in the Chicago area, a couple days to swing to Des Moines/Minneapolis/Wisconsin/Kansas City, a couple 2-day trips for Midwest shows, and a full week for finals. Here is the link for the 2011 info, 2012 for the Colt Cadets will get going in late January. http://www.colts.org/cadets/cadets.cfm Lots of our Colt Cadet members will attend Colts try-out camps in the winter for the experience and feedback, and a good percent of the Colts and Colts staff started as Colt Cadets. Colt info for try-outs can be found here: http://www.colts.org/news/news.cfm?news_id=575
  14. all groups did great, very good crowd reactions for all, very cool to stAet the night with the natioal anthuem of japan. colt cadets doing encore now, scores soon!
  15. Your 2:35 update (Not sure how many updates I will get to do...phone is smarter than the owner, and I am back in the office to pick up some last minute things to open the ticket gates) Colt Cadet brass in the stadium, guard in the grass nearby, drum line and pit in the parking lot. Racine Scouts on the baseball outfield. Sovies getting set up, concessions have lots of drinks on ice and grills getting fired up, lots of parents around to help. It is sunny and a tad warm, but beautiful compared to some of the nasty heat the past couple of weeks!

The Colt Cadets got in late last night after a great show in Greendale, and will be hitting senior high school around 11:00. Weather for today looks great, partly cloudy and 84. GO RED TEAM!!!!! PUSH PUSH PUSH TO FINALS!!!
  18. We have heard a few rumors saying the show has been pushed back to a later start due to the forecasted heat, but we do not have any confirmation of that from DCI. Any updates to showtimes will be found on the front page of www.colts.org, and I will do my best to get updates here as well. Please encourage friends and families coming to the show to drink lots of water. Water bottles will be allowed in the stadium, and we encourage you to support the Band Boosters by purchasing additional food and drink from them at the concession stands. All seats are reserved, so you can pick up your tickets early and find a cool place until showtime and not worry about saving your seats. The ticket booth and will-call tables will be open at 3:00, and the show starts at 7:00. We will have tickets available at the gate, but of course the sooner you get your seats the better they will be. Tickets can be purchased on-line until Sunday Morning at: http://www.colts.org/brassimpact_kc11.asp

  20. Minnesota Zoo is great but can get expensive for a big family, Como Park and Zoo is free---both good options especially if you have kids. Valleyfair is similar to a Six-Flags with a big waterpark, rollercosters, rides, shows, food, etc. Coupons can often be found on-line or on pop cans, or discount tickets are sometimes available at gas stations (Super America?) or grocery stores (Cub Foods?). I think the MN Insitute of Art Museum is free (At least last time I was there it was). If you are into gambleing Mystic Lake Casino is just south of town, sometimes they have shows/concerts as well.
  21. This should be a huge crowd! Most of the center 3 sections are sold out (Few random seats in the bottom few rows), and we have over 20 different school groups attending the show. Bigger stadium than our Kansas City show last year, and we are expecting to have tickets available at the gate, but you may want to order this week just to be sure. All tickets ordered by phone or on-line after July 7th can be picked up at the Will-Call booth. 2200+ tickets have been sold so far... Show info/Tickets: http://www.colts.org/brassimpact_kc11.asp (I will post housing info and other random stuff once I recover from last nights Waukee show...got the Colt Cadets back to Dubuque around 4 am...)
  22. Random facts from the show: Might officially be a sell-out, I need to count ticket studs and such this week to find out, but we only had a handful of reserved seats left and made more general admission after we did a check of the stadium during Glassmen's show. We had people in folding chairs at the top of the stands, and had folks in 2 skyboxes above the judges in the press box. A group of about 100 band kids from Waukee did the national anthem, and did a great job. Most of these kids had never seen a drum corps show before, and I suspect we have some new super-fans judging by the amount of sovies they had in the stands with them and watching their faces during the show. Big group of awesome alumni from corps of decades past loved the show (Loved all the corps), some had tears at times, and were still visiting sovie guys 45 minutes after the Colts encore. It is so cool to see folks in corps jackets and wearing buttons from 30 years ago still having a great time. At the end of the show Greg took the mike and asked the crowd "How many of you are at your first drum corps show ever?"...and over half the crowd raised their hands! When he asked who would be coming back next year pretty much everyone stuck their hand up, a few high school kids were jumping up and down with their hands up :) Colts were still selling sovies an hour after encore was done. Waukee band boosters are an awesome group to work with, very organized, always asking if they can help, and super nice! After taking a ton of phone calls about the weather (Our poor Colts Bingo staff in Dubuque could not answer all 3 lines ringing at the same time and run the bingo---sorry if you did not get a human if you tried calling, they were doing their very best.) The sidewalk was dry by 6:00 and it turned into some of the most perfect weather for drum corps ever! It was great show...next stop for the Colt Ticket Office-Olathe Kansas! (FYI----over 2200 tickets have been sold for Olathe so far!)
  23. John Deere...you can even visit the tractor museum for free! (I am so not kidding, it is kinda a cool place with computer simulations, old tractors, etc.)
  24. Just talked to a Colt Cadet staff member, and they had a GREAT show :) She said the kids turned a corner tonight (Not sure what that means, but it sounds pretty good), had a very professional vibe, and really earned their standing ovation from the crowd that was still getting settled in to the stadium for the night. Way to go CC!!!
  25. Any updates? My Colt Cadets should be at the gate or on the field :) (Office staff getting ready for the Waukee show tomorrow night...shameless plug: http://www.colts.org/celebration11.asp )
