  1. I wish we played a drums along the rockies casper, like they had in the past before the denver drums show... ... but it's gonna be a pretty sweet tour!
  2. yeah.... but Drums Along the Rockies is that day... and this year it's gonna be a huge event!
  3. SO esperanza is fielding a drum and bugle corps for the 2007 season? it looks like all of their audition information is from last year, or their winter programs
  4. I'm lucky i live in CO for the Troopers, but my girlfriend is in BAC, so she goes all the way to florida, then to new england from CO... so i don't know, 1900 miles for FL, and probably near that number for new england also
  5. one thing i've heard about is back when the troopers needed new uniforms the alum association set up a program where they "bought" a uniform and the members wore them in the summer. On the inside of the jacket was the name of the person who bought the uniform. ... think of all the alum for some corps, new uniforms could be a reality very easily that way...
  6. Scott Carr is a great addition to the Troopers. Not only is he a great instructor, he is an alum of the corps. He aged out in 1996.
  7. I agree, as a current member i don't really want to hear "BLOOOOO" yelled at the Troopers... it's not our thing. When i was with the Blue Stars this year at quarter finals a bunch of people were "BLOOOOOO"ing and it really took the edge off for me, it wasn't the same reaction through out the corps, other members enjoyed it... but were not the Blue Coats... it's their thing ... i can only compare it to some of the SCV staff going to PR, and yelling "VANGUARD" at a quite moment in PR's show... I know it is an extreme cause the Long Blue Line, BLOOOO... i get it, but that's what it feels to me. ... and don't get me started on another thread that called the Blue Stars the next "America's Corps"
  8. ... you'd be suprised... AND The BAC, Boston Area Crusaders, are always my wild card corps, they might end up 5th next year with a great product. The corps always has amazing members and Staff, so we'll have to wait and see what happens in Cali
  9. i second that post.. .except i am still a member... but very very exciting news
  10. it's ok, i voted for BD just to see results... ... really, as many has said, no way to compare... ... reminds me why corps block the members from this website. Fans and other people get caught up in pointless rambling of nothing usefull to anything...
  11. I saw ben potts mentioned earlier... so i'll add: "You look like you are stealing something! You like like you're stealing cookies from the pantry... with bad technique" Commenting on marching from an individual "OK now go!... CUT! Tubas... 50yard line... OK GO!.. CUT! Tubas the 50... OK NOW GO!... CUT! TUBAS... horns 2inches to your left... YEAH that's the 50... NOW GO!" Don Lawrence: "You're not running fast enough" while on a PA system in the football stadium Steven Jones: "You need to rehearse this like you are going to perform it in Boston. If any of you decide to be heros and ruin the tape, i will come to your houses and kill you... is that understood?" ... The low brass was behind him on the field and didn't hear him. He turns to them and says: "If you ruin my recording i will come to your house and stomp your throats!" and just random ones that every staff member or tech can be heard saying: "You've gotta be kidding me..." "Let's simulate show conditions..."
  12. From a press release fromt the Troopers website: http://troopersdrumcorps.org/about/news.htm Troopers Receive Vote of Confidence from DCI (April 12, 2006) Following a meeting with Drum Corps International's Executive Committee on April 7, 2006, the Troopers have been preliminarily approved to rejoin the ranks of DCI in full division I competition for the 2007 competitive season. Final approval is expected later this year when the full DCI board meets to vote on the matter. DCI Executive Committee members praised Troopers Executive Director Mike Ottoes for the diligent work and appropriate steps taken over the last seven months to rectify the issues which caused the corps’ removal from DCI competition for the 2006 season. Mr. Ottoes confirmed that all appropriate tax filings have been submitted to the Internal Revenue Service and the organization continues to follow-up with the IRS to ensure full compliance. Additionally, the Troopers Board of Directors has formulated a thorough business development plan and has also made strides to pay down the remaining debt. According to Mr. Ottoes, the focus of the organization now is the further development of the Casper-based Trooper Cadets and the recruiting process for the 2007 DCI competitive season. The Troopers famed “sheep-wagon” souvenir stand will be seen at DCI major events this summer to help promote the return of the corps in 2007. The 2007 season will mark the 50th anniversary of the corps founding.
  13. it is just the way it sounds... A marching band, yes i said marching band. for more information contact the Troopers at their website.
  14. If you think about the communication link that could go on: Director -> Staff -> Members -> Families -> Friends -> Internet Now that's a lot of useless dilution of one main message. I know the crusaders director will post on DCP when he needs to... and I’m sure he's not the only director. When you sign a contract as a member of a corps you are representing that corps. When you do you give up certain rights for the corps protection, such as speech. This is a limited thing though; it is limited to anything dealing with the corps, such as news, shows, and anything else that deals with the corps. IT is directly related to the communication link, things can get messed up in translation, which makes more work for the corps to clean up that mess. When you violate this, corps can determine what the punishment is for that, total banning of forums, or termination from the corps. It's a protective issue that I believe should be in place, it guarantees authenticity to information, and no rumors will exist. If you want to find out news, go to the corps websites... it is direct and they are usually up to date on their news, if any.
  15. ... that's what rubber bands and thing of that nature are for... reminds me of a show last year when the Blue Knights where doing that dancing feature during the drum feature and we were waiting for retreat with Capital Regiment and we just see a trumpet mouth piece go flying...oooppps! That was pretty early in their show.. first half
  16. Star Yes.. 89 i know from DVD's Blue Knights.. 2003, with the retro-uniform... 2000 was Andy Smart Troopers 2005
  17. '04 Phantom sounded quite technical... '04 was a great year
  18. ... I'm suprised to not hear of the Troopers mentioned in this when all of the others have been. I agree with SCV and Phantom, but Troopers, especially from their beginning years, ranks at the top.
  19. Where's the Troopers? 99 Vanguard.... one of my all-time favorite shows... last week i listened to it atleast once a day. 89 Phantom.... my defintion of a powerful show
  20. '05 Cavaliers put me to sleep '05 Sounded like '04, and '03 so i chose '04. '04 or '05 cadets was a hard choice... I love both equally, but chose '05.
  21. Switching teams doesn't change loyalty... Troopers Brass caption head Jason Buckingham started out with Troopers and ended up following an old staff member to Star, where he aged out... He still is loyal to the blue and the gold, but wanted to continue his education with a familiar face... Several members did that this year to the Colts and other corps in light of the Troopers situation. I plan on returning to the Troop when they are OK'd for competition again and i know i'm not the only one... hopefully 2007... The whole tax stuff was sent in recently, and DCI has been checking on us, and in the near future, so hopefully good news all across the board.
  22. '96 Phantom... the music build up into the major cord... where's my towel? '86 Troopers... the old school push of sound at the end of battle hymn, even though the lead sops cracked before the ending '89 SCV... company front, loud!!! 'nuff said '92 VK... opera singer gets eaten Any corps that builds up to a company front in the end and then ends with some crazy loud music and drill... ...i always like it in Phantom shows when they get in the 4 count extended leg manual...
