  1. Hey... I heard you had some rough weather up by you yesterday... Hope all stayed attached to whatever it has been attached to-before then!
  2. "Reverant!" "You've got to remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land. The common clay of the new West. You know... morons." Jim
  3. LOL (annoying noise-from the drum or from the usual snare players mouth?) Note: usual doesn't mean ALL snare players mouths... No, if I were in attendance, I'd probably go out for tenor for old times sake... Best wishes and keep me informed on the BF parade... Pearsony
  4. Hey Jed, Did I read the I&E schedule correctly? I would have figured you for a tenor solo... In any case, best wishes! Pearsony
  5. I promised that I wouldn't say anything... But, if people will sit tight - everyone will probably see (in a different light) soon why things went the way they did. For everyone's knowledge I confirmed that the final decision was not based on the field product, performance or placement. This is from a direct source! No one is out to hurt the Scouts, Sal or anyone in the activity! In fact, a mass internal email to all members and alum's was supposed to be sent prior to the press release the other day, but steps were mishandled to where the announcement was made before members could be told first! That was NOT intended and the members hurt feelings are certainly understood. Regardless of any fault in the communication chain, my suggestion is hang tight, we could be seeing a very golden sky when this storm ends! MYNWA, Pearsony
  6. Actually, the number one reason why Scouts staff left was... (drum roll) "Money!" Number one reason for Drum Corps problems today is... (drum roll) "Money!" IMO, making a living in this activity is contributing to the problem, rather than to it's solution. If you love the activity, having your reasonable expenses and maybe a few beers covered should be payment enough. (Note: the exception of a full-time director within each corps with very strong administrative skills.) The bottom line is everyone should have a real life financial source outside of Drum Corps to sustain whatever your personal goals may be... It's not just DC either! Walk the walk: With todays, budget cuts in school districts around the country, the best solution to this problem (IMO) is family members with a skill stepping forward and donating their time and talents! Do it for the love, not the money! For the past 4 years, I volunteer taught 6 percussion classes at a Madison Middle School and High School. Why? Because the kids appreciate it as do the parents, and I like the feeling of giving. If you can't afford the time right now, that's probably a sign that the timing isn't right for you... Maybe later, if you do have the time - give it a shot! I bet you'll feel great doing it!!! (sorry 'bout the sermon)
  7. Sorry, I didn't see you! It was a last minute thing, when contras needed to be brought up for the Frontier corps... I had a ticket for the stands, but never made it that far... I hung out with Pilot, J. Owens, Jerry Buhrow (travel mate along with Stewie/Junko). Btw, I'll be back up there this weekend (again). Stewie, Randy, Pilot and I are working on structure of the project DVD (note: we are still in distribution research for outside people) along with other issues. We're looking at an informal gathering Saturday night, so email me if you're interested... Pearsony
  8. Actually, talk or in this case, text is very cheap! It's amazing how people feel justified in speaking for others! For your information, Scott doesn't "hate DCI!" He hates what DCI did to his beliefs in the activity! (right or wrong) Note: I'm not supporting anyone, but I dislike it when people pretend to know everything about anything...
  9. Sing as we go, and tell me that you love me? I'll sing as we go, and tell you I love you too... Hmm, that doesn't seem to quite work... :)
  10. Hmm, could be... when you were at practice, I always had to ask where mommy kept the diapers... ;)
  11. Sorry I missed it Jed! I did enjoy your wiggle on the podium on Sunday though! :) Oh also... I do know the words to your playoff tune, since I have the album in addition to about a dozen others... In fact, I sang it as you paraded the stands, though I don't think the old lady standing next me appreciated it! (Then again, I'm not sure) "Oh, you're no fun any more!" (via Monty Python)
  12. Since, we're throwin' names around-as if it mattered! :) Brent Turner - has done a great job at MBI!
  13. My only contribution to this discussion is that I have to believe that this decision was not based on the DCI position of the corps, but other business related issues. Again, I don't know-only speculation like everyone else here!! One thing I do know is that moving backwards is not usually a very good idea! Please excuse any offense derived from those words, because I'm not trying to label anyone past or present. The bottom line is dedication, communication, innovation, sound business knowledge, planning & implementation are primary keys to any organization's success... Whoever steers the Scouts ship next, I hope, will possess those attributes!!! Whoever that person is needs to know how to establish a budget and stick to it. After all, what's wrong with getting more than your monies worth? Increase the efficiency of the group and decrease the member's dues... I'm sure the members wouldn't mind that either... Also, move the corps back to Madison-Sun Prairie is a nice city, but it's not Madison! Oops, back to work... almost beer time! :mmm: Pearsony
  14. Interests... Skinny Skiing Going to bullfights on acid That line from Caddy Shack some how found it's way into my head when I saw that field... (sorry) :) I updated some stuff, just for you apoch003! Keep in mind that I really can't let people know that I'm really Batman...
  15. You should have him set up a dual-boot, so you can work off of Windows while he continues to use his os environment of choice-though most that run Linux feel that Windows is toxic waste... :)
  16. Maybe your computers clock is screwed up? Isn't Newfoundland's top of the hour on our bottom of the hour? (kidding) If it's a windows machine, be sure to run all of the updates... :) Geno-I'm amazed at how well all of the egos... I mean players made it through the project! I'm glad everyone was able to hang, and I really mean "physically" hang. Especially Mathews with his recent hip replacement!
  17. Oooo, that'll get them going! (sorry couldn't resist) The project will not be part of the broadcast, and our project DVD is in discussions with DCI, because Tom Blair has already told us that he didn't mind, but also said that we need to get approval from DCI first before anyone outside of our project membership can obtain any of the semi-finals performance in any distributed content... :) If you are interested, stop by the project website over the next week or so... When we know the resolution, we will post it there, along with a method of preorder purchase if we receive the "green" light! http://fastlanecpu.com/reunion (From an earlier comment-Geno) BTW, try being in the back field, even further back behind all those snares! ;)
  18. Yes, I played along with 7 other outstanding players! I played along side 3 of the players, taught 2 of them before, and was privileged to meet and play with 2 "Younger" - well, one of them was sorta younger! (Right Dean?) :) Percussion Staff was: Christos Theo-arranger battery Taras Nahirniak-pit arranger (player too) Jeff Spanos-Snares (player too) Dennis Linley-Also really worked the snares! (Player) Scott Pearson-Tenors (player too) *Note I didn't have to do too much-everyone loved to play!!! Bob Guinn-Bass (player too) Terry Spilde-Cymbal (Player & lead cowboy) Yee Haw! Joe Murray also helped us at July/Aug weekends all those snare in order, especially in July when Jeff Spanos had a severe case of flu causing him to miss the entire weekend! DVD is still in the air... We're still seeking distribution rights to people outside of our project! Stay glued to our project website at http://fastlanecpu.com/reunion where we will post the decision as soon as we know! We will also be setting up an online store for everyone to preorder it along with other souveniers in the next week or so... Ya, Sheldon showed up this weekend! Too bad he didn't show up back in February, it would have been "n"ice to have him playing in the section. Dan, unfortunately had life things he needed to take care of... down in TEXAS... YEE HAW-Here I go again... :) Almost forgot - the lines to day? Amazing!!! I have absolutely no idea how you all can move and do what you do-so fricken consistently!!! (How's that?) Well done!!!!
  19. Naw, I played tenor in 77' and never looked on... I missed try-outs in 76', so I had to wait a year to discover my love that instrument! (3's/4's/5's) It didn't matter the variation of drums... Aged out in 83', then taught the tenors through 89'... (Handled teaching bass' and snares along the way in select years as needed) As a player, I had the privilege to play Sanford, Theo and Lages parts over the 7 years on toms! CT, another former tenor player had a great sense for the instrument, so I also had the privilege to work his parts with some very fine Scout Players! (Spike-Jed are you reading this?) Thanks for asking... Pearsony
  20. No worries on the after effects their brother! You've already got a great family which it was a pleasure to meet them all! I have to say, if you couldn't already figure it out that I was never really a "fan" of your wiggle butt trademark, BUT I am so glad you came on board to do the staff & DM thing! It was like old times again for a short time... Btw, shhhh but I might be stowing away with Stewy & Keggar on Sunday to check out the Sr. corps show up in the TC area! Pearsony
  21. Geno: I haven't received anything at the project site yet! MJN: Differences with CT? I should hope so... CT was very unique! (Taught with him for 6 years in the scouts!) Taught *Neimeyer for my last 4 years too... (*a.k.a. Mr Bungles or Mr. B ) Where the H*** is CT? "Time to make the donuts!" :)
  22. Nice Geno! Did you (by chance) get Justin on the other side? (or was he back at MATC?) :) Pearsony MATG'S
  23. I like this photo over the re-use of the June Bar photo... Is this payment for the recent video credit? nudge nudge ;) ;) know what I mean?
