  1. The short sleeves look odd. Very odd. A red sash & hat band would have been nice.
  2. The reason that I joined the Scouts were because the uniforms were cool & the Scouts were cool. Crowns uni is not cool. It's Terrible. For God sakes, pick a great uniform & stick with it. These are brutal, as are the Cavies guard costumes.
  3. That's a nicer way of saying what I was going to say. Suffice to say that I really wish that brass & percussion people would have more influence in today's drum corps. It is all about the music after all. The current uniform & show design trends are awful. I really hope that this years Scouts show will influence the future direction of drum corps.
  4. Oh my God...what the hell is this? Seriously. This is just awful.
  5. No...please no dancing...not in this show. Not in any show for that matter...
  6. Star doesn't compare to 27TH. Lancers were a storied corps. Star was a corps started with a ton of money who competed for what, 10 years? Please.
  7. God how I hope this is true. Please no more odd, strange, creepy guard costumes.
  8. I marched with a guy in the Snare line who couldn't read a lick of music. He learned the show by ear, & the other guys in the line would help him. His greatest difficulty was getting the sticking right. Throughout the season we were frequently helping him get the sticking right. This guy was one of the fumiest guys I ever marched with so no one cared!
  9. I remember the Stardusters in 1977 I think it was, had a very good drum line & snare line.
  10. I don't ever recall Scottish or Patriotic shows "taking a ton of heat". Kilts? 27? Madison? I don't ever remember anyone criticizing these shows. The Bridgemen & the circus shows are another story. Yea...many drum corps fans were upset about the circus.
  11. It is unnecessary, redundant, & ridiculous. Good lord, just worry about marching & playing well.
  12. Then please explain why there were 1000+ drum & bugle corps in the 60's & 70's, when tradition was in vogue & color guards wore the same uniform as the rest of the corp?
  13. Many in the audience are confused & many have been chased away, To deny this is ignorant.
  14. In answer to the question in the title of this thread...YES.
  15. I hope the 2010 Scouts return to the 1981 uni will inspire other corps to go vintage as well.
  16. Actually, the current trend of drum corps isnt working. Corps unis were better in 1980. Corps today wear cheap looking polyester costumes, not uniforms.
  17. Not sure you will see 180 BPM. I hope not.
  18. Over the top would be wearing the 1981 uniform WITHOUT spats. That just wouldn't look right.
  19. I have all of my 1981 uniform accessories, spats included, in a box. I consider the contents of this box one of my prized possessions.
  20. Does the Star of Indiana have enough alumni to field an alumni corps, or are they going to let anyone participate?
