He used to write his music scores on napkins then after he taught them he would throwv the napkin away so horn judges couldn't tell him where his horn line may have screwed up. -

His father was a piano player at some clubs down by the Transfer Station in Union City, N.J. back in the 40s &50s. You gotta be a REAL old timer to have known that. Gus Wilke supplied me with that factoid decades ago. -

Do you mean Entr'acte? (Which=a piece of music.) -
Was listening to Joey's CD on my way home from North Jersey last night. Great performer and great performance by the both of them. Phoebe was from North Jersey herself. Teaneck, N.J. Great voice. Poetry Man was my favorite. RIP Phoebe.

You forgot (or missed): *nyskyliner: WOW!!!! What a relic THIS pix is. All three were New York Skyliners at one point in time but not all at the same point in time. I'd say this was taken in the early 60s. I think they also may have been members of the "original" Mighty St. Joe's. The guy on the left was the first soloist ever to play the most famous four notes in all of Drum Corps, G-C-D-G. -

Sure you do Jeff. Remember that time he stood on the bar stool with the lamp shade on his head? -

According to the Bridgemen website (as well as my own personal knowledge of history of the Bridgemen) Father Donovan was transferred to St. John's Parish in Bergenfield, N.J. and elevated to Monsignor during the ending months of 1975. It is my understanding that some of the former members of the St. Andrew's Bridgemen approached Bobby Hoffman in late 1975/early 1976 to take on the duties of Program Director and the rest is history. The 1975 season was the end of the "Shako Era" so to speak and 1976 began the 'Yellow Coats Era".

Mr. Cooley of course. -
Thanks for a really great post Tom. And to "Hairbear" (as well as others like Jim Fawber) for really putting it to the "aforementioned" jerk. Like I said earlier, I'm glad the jerk posted his whining on here rather then wallowing in obscurity over on RAMD. Over here he got just what he deserved and not just from Jeff Ream. All of those who are more concerned about the ENTIRE activity and are doing something about making it better for all of us, thank you all. And Tom, if I remember correctly, that is what put you in the PaDCHOF as an Honorary Member, the highest award given by the PaDCHOF to someone who, while not affiliated with any Drum Corps located within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania but has gone well above and beyond in service to the activity,...and well earned.

After a closer look at the banner it is the Bedford Whalers uniform. But for some strange reason I still think it looks like the jumper. -

Something To Think About
NYSkyliner replied to NanciD's topic in DCA All-Age Corps and Alumni Corps Historical Forum
I agree with you on the Hurcs. As I recall they took high horns, high drum and tied for high M&M and came in second. And wasn't it a coincidence that if any Corps gets screwed at Al Nats it was always in drumming? It happened in 1951 too. -

He's marched with Cabs, Cabs Alumni in their early years as well as New York Skyliners Alumni in the early years. Played soprano in his Senior Corps years and was a screecher. He nearly blew my ear drums at a Skyliner Alumni rehearsal one day.
