  1. Yes that is the same Chris Nagy. The founder and executive director of this "drum corps" is a 19-year-old with zero drum corps teaching experience. You need to tell each and every one of your students to avoid this completely illegitimate operation as soon as possible. I know that at least one of the people listed on the staff page were contacted about staff positions, explicitly responded "No," were placed on the website anyways, and have been petitioning ever since to have their name removed. I have no idea how DCI has not shut this down yet, it is a danger to everyone involved and to the activity itself.
  2. Wow nice sounds! It's not all there yet, but they sound better than they did last July....can't wait to hear it!!
  3. http://www.madisonscouts.org or http://shop.madisonscouts.org/index.php?ma...products_id=216 Looks like Madison's trying to make some gas money selling their April Camp recordings. I myself bought it all (it's tax deductible!) and the sound quality is GREAT! Obviously, the guys don't sound incredible yet, but I don't see why everyone is whining about the transition at Scouts. This stuff is HOT! Now be a good fan and toss them some cash :P
  4. Try right-clicking them and picking "Save Target As..." or the similar function on your OS/Browser, then listen to them from your desktop instead of through the browser. Hope it works for ya, Zack, these recordings are NICE!! A little dirty but hey...they're winter camps....above all, they're entertaining and fun to listen to already, I can only imagine the effect the boys'll have in August!! We all know DCI will put them in 34th place because of some random luck of the draw, but here's to the Scouts tearin some faces clean off all summer!
  5. If you really like the Scouts shirt design, send it in to the corps office. Same with the Crossmen design! They're both rad shirts and I'm especially lovin the Madison design!
  6. *pulls out fire extinguisher* Uh oh, looks like someone's trying to spread some flames!! *douses megan_marie*
  7. Well my favorite is 81 so you lose. YOU'VE RUINED DCP FOR ALL OF US!!
  8. There's really no difference. Vanguard marches Yamaha horns, meaning both their baris and the euphs are large shank. You'll be getting a little bit of a different tone coming out the other side of the horn on a euph, but there's no real huge difference in 'chops,' especially for an audition! Vanguard's audition exercises are easy for a reason. They want you to play a short solo and some simple exercises....to hear how you sound at your most basic. Everything else can be built upon. They aren't going "Well this kid's really prepared for a euph spot so let's let him have it!" They listen and say 'Wow this kid can play and he's got a great attitude, let's give him a spot!' then they'll worry about placement. So just keep practicing and if you're worried about holding the horn....start slammin down those 'shups ^0^
