The Queen's Own Rifles Bugle band that played in Toronto in the 50's is 150 years old this year. We have formed an Alumni band to perform at the Celebrations before our Honourary Colenal Princess Alexander. Phil Espanto explained to me that although regular contests take place there is much corruption and politics involved. Imagine having a winner declared and no scores are announced. The lancers are recognized as the best but have placed second in some of these scoreless contests. A sad thing for the young people and thier instructors who work so hard.

I regularly Skye with Phil Espanto who marched Blue Devils and who's son is playing with them now. Phil is from Mannila and is part owner of the new 27th Lancers. They are a junior corps in the Phillipines. There are many videos on U Tube of Lancers and other world Drum Corps.

I have tried two other notation systems and have settled on Finale Print Music. It allows single line charts for different parts or multi stave used for all part scores. As you are entering the notes you can play it back. You can complete the score and print out only the part you want. Transposition and all other reworks are possible. I paid $100.00 Canadian. Its updated yearly and does the job....Hope this helps.... Garry

The Toronto Signals Band in Toronto Canada needs your help.After more than 80ears of operation and starting with straight bugles and crooks, progressing through all the evolutions, (we were the first band in Canada to adopt valve bugles), Slides, rotors, two ups. We are now a fully equipt modern group. Over the years we have used and are still using many different brand horns. We are looking to aquire 3 valve G Kanstuls as our only horns. As the band is not wealthy we cannot just order new horns. We thought if any corps were getting rid of Kanstul equipment, we could bid on them.
