  1. Yes, Doug was her son. I also remember Jimmer, who played contra. Don't know if there were any others...
  2. Yep, that's Jeff. Other faces I recognize - Dave Flynn on the left; Tracy Freeman (who's knee Rita is sitting on); looks like Chris Hartowicz on the right and a smidgen of Ma Gengler.
  3. Up to 606 people ~ patiently awaiting finals scores!
  4. That was done at the end of the Alumni show this morning so I imagine they'll do that here too. At least I hope so!
  5. Haven't seen pics but if they're like the ones Madison used last year, they're called Air Blades. Lots of fun to work with!
  6. Hi, Todd! Thanks to you, and everyone else, for blogging and making us poor, unfortunate souls feel like we're (almost) there! I'm glued to my computer screen! Lee
  7. The lady standing between me and Jamie is Stacy Stearns but you got all the others right, Chris! And Sue, I don't really remember the circumstances of the picture but I think we're standing on some kind of dam.
  8. Hi, Brian! I thought your name was familiar but that was so long ago... It's great to see you here.
  9. Okay, not a musician here (life-long color guard) but two numbers that we/Blue Devils did in the '70's TO THIS DAY bug the you-know-what out of me. 1977 - closer Gonna Fly Now - I know it was Maynard Ferguson-jazzed up but it was so Top 40 Pop at the time.. Followed by the next year, even worse: My Heart Belongs To Me. Barbra Streisand? Really? I shudder every time I hear either of these. Ick!
  10. Hey, I'm in this picture, 4th flag from the right. I'd already spent 2 years in the A corps, who didn't put out a competitive winter guard that year. Shirley Stratton was teaching this guard, which was made up of girls from the lower units. They had a last minute flag hole so I filled it for the season. The trip north for this show was also memorable, mostly for the housing they provided for us. I don't remember the name of the "school" but it turned out to be a facility for the mentally handicapped. We moved our stuff into the gym and they informed us we would be "locked in for OUR safety"! We ended up moving to my (very generous) aunt and uncle' house for the rest of the weekend.
  11. Thanks for saying that. My mom loved all her drum corps kids!
  12. Greg, I don't remember ever seeing this patch! If you ever remember where it came from, I'd be interested in hearing the story.
  13. In Blue Devils, mid-70's, we occasionally had 20-minute mark times. If someone was not keeping up or using poor technique, the staff would stop us and we'd start all over again. I remember one very vividly (held somewhere in Colorado) where we were about 95% in and Mel Stratton called a halt for some slacker. I didn't know who I was madder at, Mel or the horn player not keeping up!
  14. Thanks, Sam. Now I'm REALLY looking forward to that party!
  15. Twee or not (that's a new one for me, btw ), as a fellow rifle spinner from that era, Madison's line were gods to us. To this day, there is just something about an all-male rifle line that gives me the tingles!
