  1. See Ryan....stories like that are why I DON'T drink!!
  2. Hey....I don't feel so bad now (for when I forget a tempo)
  3. Hey....I'm short....I can't REACH you any other way!!
  4. And apparantly it came back to haunt you at Long Beach last week! *ducks & runs*
  5. No...2nd dm from the right is Star. The figure's a little washed out, but if you enlarege the image you can see the big star on her chest
  6. Really!!! I never saw them prior to semis...thanks!
  7. Yeah...probably the day AFTER the last show! From what I read on an earlier thread, the grass was just as high as before, i.e. break out the weed whacker... Word....thir Riverside performance was unbelievable!! And the frickin' straws were long enough to use as guard equipment!! On the 60?? I know there was a car over the side on the 91 just west of Corona (set the brush on fire)...I got caught up in it for a few minutes. *snicker* Saw one of the little buggers along the street side of the small practice field near the busses...got spooked and started running up the 50...didn;t stop until he reached the other side! Cute little thing, tho! Now hoe about a real review of the three shows??? Particularly Riverside (Dream's best performance...the show we SHOULD'VE had at the first Riverside show!)
  8. Only 6 corps (85 retreat)?? Small show. I recognize (R to L) Crossmen, Star, Madison, Suncoast, & Bridgemen, but who's the corps in baby blue? Doesn;t look like Spirit.
  9. Dunno...his mother was hit by a car a weeks or two back...that's why he wasn't at the Sunnyvale show.
  10. And like I said to you at Riverside....you'll probably NEVER be better warmed up for a show!!!!
  11. I don't remember the instruments they played, but this has been gone over before. The two people in question were from the UK used forged birth records...foold not only SCV but US Immigration AND their own home authorities. Gail Royer booted them the instant they were found out. SC was skilled anough to close the holes....I believe the discovery was just prior to finals week, although an 89 alum would be better able to verify it. The 89 incident was deemed a no-fault on the part of Vanguard, as they believed the birth records to be accurate and were the victims of a felony (much like porn producers weren't penalized when it was found that Traci Lords had been workming with a forged ID and had, in fact, been underage for her entire porn career)
  12. Dream must've gotton rid of the suck bug yesterday, 'cause we ROCKED Riverside!!
  13. You're cut, Turner! Now grab your bari and get in the Dream line!!!! Seriously...Friday night is a HORRIBLE time for Sr corps to go on...you know...that getting there straight from work and fighting LA we-no-move traffic? I left my house at 3pm for a 5pm call time and STILL barely made it in time for about 10 minues of warmup and then the show. one of our mellos came running up to the gate AFTER we'd circled up post-show!! 'Course, our ORIGINAL gate time was 6:40, not the changed time of 6:00...so there went more warm time. Still, we essentially held our score...and last night in riverside we went up by over 5 points, narrowly (.25) missing RCR. I think any Friday show in the future should have the Srs go on later in the lineup so we don;t have to stress on the drive over.
  14. That was actually in the costume competition at the 1984 World Science Fiction Convention in Anaheim,,,,Darth Vader -- With a Differance. She came out with the Darth mask on, the block cloak closed around her so you thought it was a man, Imperial March playing....then it changed to The Stripper and she opened the cloak to reveal a rather nicely filled out teddy. The audience howled!!!
  15. When was THAT???? With my luck it was the one Wed night I missed 'cause I got the flu.
  16. Ahhh....thanks! I sit corrected!
  17. Oh yeah, I forgot 86 Madison. Haven't seen/heard that show in a long time. Was the trombonium used by 27 over-the-shoulder or more like a marching trombone/flugabone? I have one of those in Bb that I love for jazz, but have never seen a 2-valve G version of it. I think a 2-valve piccolo soprano bugle may just be THE cutest brass instrument ever made! :P What was a cellophone like? A fat mellophone? Gad....tryign to remember the trombonium & cellophone appearance. I DON'T think the t-bonium went over the shoulder...all the brass was in front of the mouthpiece. The only place I think I've seen the cellophone MAY have been 84 Crossmen on the video. You have to watch the corps starting to march off the field...I think the dude in the very front has one...looks like a mini-bari..
  18. Pic sops that I remember: 86 Madison (Stars & Stripes Forever - closer), 85 Freelancers (Bells - closer), 82 SCV (maybe 81 also) (middle of the show -- Slava) 86 DCUK brass trophy (it was mounted on a block of wood....and it worked!) Trombonium: 82 27th (middle of show - Niner-Two) I think Crossmen or Phantom used something they called a "cellophone" in the early 80s, trying to get a more symphonic sound
  19. How about that train sound? Brilliant...amped or not!!
  20. SCV 87....snares/tenors right hand singles on the last bar of Russian Xmas Music....you know the one.
  21. And yet you still post here?? I guess I'm not as bad as I thought! Nice meeting you, too! But you STILL need a Sherpa guide to get to the top!!! And the walk over is about as far...at least Glendora doesn;t have a hill right before the entry gate!!
  22. I'll echo Ryan's sentiments here...hope she gets better. 14 staples??? YIKES!
  23. Heh, the only thing I remember about DC was that orange MG he drove...for some reason, Wayne used it to pick me up from the Concord BART station when I flew up to audition. I remember thinking "this is driven by the great Wayne Downey??" Then we got to the school and I saw Wayne's Porche!!!
  24. Sam, Ryan's entire wardrobe is The Shirt! Does his wardrobe burn out people's eyeballs?
