  1. Does anyone know where corps will be rehearsing before The Tour of Champions show in Houston? The only lead I have so far is that Cavaliers will be at Black Middle School (1575 Chantilly Ln, Houston, Texas 77018)
  2. Hard to tell where overall placements will fall since this is the first head to head meeting but I'm looking for MBI's percussion to come out on top tonight. Earned it in 2010, have been very close for the last two years and are now playing a more difficult book, with more notes than the last two years (combined?), and are cleaner than last season at this time. The MBI hornline has an extremely difficult music book and needs more time to clean... soooooooo here's my best guess (no scores, just placements): 1. Bucs 2. MBI 3. CadetsDos etc...
  3. You wanted the best, YOU GOT THE BEST! This week we've got Mike Olsen of the Cavaliers, MCM and TCU Front Ensemble(s)! http://www.rudimentality.com/knowledge/2012/11/30/rudimentality-podcast-8-mike-olsen-eric-palmer.html
  4. RMP #7 is now live, featuring Walt Boyd & Devin Tomczik of I/O Studios! http://www.rudimentality.com/knowledge/2012/11/15/rudimentality-podcast-7-walter-boyd-devin-tomczik-of-io-stud.html annnnnnd.... Diddlers and Triddlers: we need to mobilize!!! Apparently we only need 5 reviews on iTunes (preferably of AT LEAST 5 stars) in order for the RMP to have a viewable rating on iTunes. We would do it ourselves but don't want to be banned from the service... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take a minute of your time and give us a rating/review on iTunes! https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/rudimentality-podcast/id569755843 Also, the podcast is now available on Stitcher! http://stitcher.com/s?eid=17977818&refid=stpr
  5. We've had a great run of guests lately and this week's is no exception! Happy Veteran's Day weekend! RMP #6 featuring Mike Thorseth http://www.rudimentality.com/knowledge/2012/11/10/rudimentality-podcast-6-eric-palmer-mike-thorseth.html If you're an iTunes or RSS subscriber make sure to visit the show page (linked above), there are a TON of video references that are a MUST HAVE accompaniment to this podcast. Enjoy!

  7. Hello fellow flam-draggers, I am pleased to announce that the Rudimentality Podcast is officially alive and thriving! There are currently 4 episodes available, and we have guests lined up for the next 5 weeks (more are being added to the queue every day)! Head over to the site and check it out for yourself, and be sure to give us a Like and a Share on Facebook! Show Page: http://www.rudimentality.com Facebook Fan Page: http://www.facebook.com/rudimentality Subscribe on iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/rudimentality-podcast/id569755843 RSS Feed: http://rudimentality.libsyn.com/rss The main podcast will primarily be an interview format with a few roundtable conversations being thrown in once the indoor/DCI/DCA seasons are underway that are typically an hour run time. I'm also uploading a "sub-cast" that is called "Daily Meditations" where I'll relate breakthroughs I've had as a performer/student/human/etc... and provide insight into attempting to make a living teaching and performing (never more than 30 minutes for the drummer/pageantry fan on the go). We're really looking to expand our reach by providing quality content for instructors, students/members/performers, writers/arrangers, etc... and get feedback from the community with topic ideas, guest recommendations, questions, etc... so PLEASE check it out, let us know what you think and share with your peers and students! Thanks for checking us out and keep on drumming! ~eP

  11. YESSSSS! When you have the 3rd largest screen in the NCAA you have to keep it cool somehow ;-) I noticed the buzzing more in-between corps than anything. Regarding parking: I can see how it may have been confusing for someone from out of town however I found a spot in a ramp right next to the corps warmup area (3 blocks from the stadium) without hassle. (albeit for $10) Can't wait for next year!!!
  12. Part 1 features commentary from the lot with corresponding videos and Part 2 includes an almost 2000+ word recap/review including photos of most corps and a breakdown of what the heck was up with the weather! Enjoy! DCI MN Recap Part 1: The Lot - Rüdimentality Part 2: The Show - Rüdimentality
  13. Everyone, repeat after me: "Sunshine Day" (if you believe it, the sun will shine) ;-) My seats are right on the 50, I can't wait!

  15. Giving this a bump since there haven't been any responses... only 4 more days to get in your questions for Clark!!!

  17. (reposted from the World Class forum since it was buried by current season news... mods, feel free to delete the other thread) Hello fellow drum corps fans! I have an opportunity to interview Clark Gardner (Percussion Section Leader from Star of Indiana 1993) and considering the mystique that followed Star that season I'm sure many of you have questions you would like to have answered regarding the season itself and of course Star's departure from DCI! You can submit your questions 3-ways: 1. Post it in this thread (I'll include your username along with the question, if you would prefer to to use your actual name simply add it in the post). 2. Send a message to @rudimentality on Twitter with your question (same deal here, your twitter username will be included with the question unless otherwise specified) 3. Email your question and contact name you would like used in the interview to: rudimentality@gmail.com Final deadline for questions will be 12:01 a.m. CST on Monday July 5th... ASK AWAY! 21. When I first started teaching I was in the exact same position and this book/dvd was invaluable! http://www.jwpepper.com/5990790.item It covers playing and visual techniques in great detail and includes a notation key that makes a lot of sense (many of the note heads mimic the position of the cymbals when using that technique so it's easy for the students to sight read). eP
