  1. Right ... seeing all the other captions and the increased score's in those... there's no reason to asume that the corps dropped the ball, compared to the prior shows or the other corps that night. If they would have, we should have seen a decrease in other captions as well. To see all other captions staying steady or even increase makes it impossible to justify the drop of 3 points in the GE caption.
  2. Well, if you find that impressive then you might take a look in the member history of the Boston Crusaders. Over the last few years they’ve had so many foreign members, way more then 7. Me, I’m from Holland and marched 3 years in Boston in 97 – 99. Those years the foreign members were: 1997: 7 Japan, 4 Holland, 3 England, 1 Schotland, 1 Mexico, 1 Canada, 1 Korea 1998: 13 Japan, 2 Holland, 5 Canada, 1 Schotland 1999: 6 Japan, 5 Holland, 1 Schotland, 3 Canada, 1 England, 1 Thailand On the 1996 DCI Video/DVD is an interview with all of the foreign members that marched Boston that year. I believe there were around 20 kids from outside the US that year. If you’re interested in the amount of all the Dutch kids who marched in DCI over the past decades, take a loot at www.dutchindci.com There’s a list with all the names of all the Dutch who marched, where they marched and what instrument/equipment they used.
  3. You're right Rhumbline, we played it though but it was our (BAC) closer in 1997.
  4. Fact: whenever BAC played Conquest in the show we didn't make Finals. Last time tried was 1998. Fact: Madison Scouts played it as their field warm-up in 2002..... and they didn't make Finals...... I guess it's the Curse of the Captian of Castille or something
  5. Beatrix drum & bugle corps, The Netherlands. I play lead soprano (trumpet) and a solo on the flugel.
  6. If you'd like some more info about MB, send an email to rob.lam@beatrix.org He's on our board of directors and has got the contacts with Adams. Maybe he can help you reach the correct person. Tell him I send you if you want, might help a little :)
  7. Not sure. We made a good deal with Adams for these horns, but our board of directors made the deal and therefore I have no clue on how expensive (or cheap) they were.
  8. Hmm.... indeed. I just found out that there's only a page on the Adams website about MB, and that one's in Dutch. Maybe there's someone from the Bluecoats how could get some more info about MB?
  9. As captionhead brass of Beatrix I should B) These horns are produced at Kanstull. It's not a B line or something, they are a brench of their own and getting pretty big in Europe. Not so much in the Drum Corps Scene, but for concertbands they are growing. Beatrix was the first drum & bugle corps in Europe to use these instruments, and therefore we "act" as ambassadors for Manchester Brass. In the US I know that the Bluecoats have had them, not sure if they still use them? They are good horns with a beautiful sound. Check their website voor more info (go to www.beatrix.org and follow the link)
  10. Beatrix started their first DCI contest strong and scored a 68.4. Tonight they’ve got their second contest of this season in Lynn Ma.
  11. Thanks Paul! How have you been? Too bad that I can’t go with them this summer. I’m joining them in Denver for the last week. Maybe I’ll see you there?! Take care, Twan
  12. The back also contains the blue and white. In the middle of the back is a black stripe that splits the two colors. Come and check it out this summer.
  13. For everyone who's interested in the new look of Beatrix' drum & bugle corps check their website for pictures (www.beatrix.org) The uniforms were presented in public last saturday at the corps' rehearsel site. Especially the new hats give the corps a fresh new look. Note: the plumes were not available but will arrive somewere this week to complete the uniforms. The design was made by 1 member of each section (horns, drums, guard), staff members and board of directors. The uniforms are made in-house by the ladies of the Beatrix' sewing crew. They have been working like horses for the last 6 months to complete all the uniforms and they pulled it off! For more info, check the site. Regards, Twan Trienekens Captionhead Brass, Beatrix' Drum & Bugle Corps Hilversum, The Netherlands
  14. There is girl from Holland in Glassmen's guard, 1 guy in Crossmen's guard, 1 snare player at Crossmen, and one soprano in Madison. That's all I've heard from Holland to go.
