  1. Speaking of Columbus Ohio... In 2005, the Blue Knights were rehearsing in Columbus for the show there that evening. About 3/5 of the way through the final runthrough for the day, we were kicked off of the practice field and forced to end rehearsal for the day so the football team could have their field. Of course we were furious, and wanted to say a few choice words, but we decided to be the classier group there and swallow our pride. We then packed up our gear and headed towards the gym while the football team did their sprints. Before a good majority of the corps was even starting to leave the field, the football team was done with their workout and ran back to the weight room, after an whopping 5 minute workout. They just couldn't wait to do their sprints I guess. Once the drum corps season was over, I personally kept track of that particular football team to find out if that 5 minute work out was worth it. They lost their first game 33-0, and went 3-8 that year.
  2. It's been mentioned a few times before, but the Blue Knights have had an indoor winter brass ensemble for 4 years now. This will be my third year in the ensemble. So far, it has been successful in providing an ensemble to those high school kids that would rather play a brass instrument than percussion, as well as for those who have an interest in joining the corps and becoming familiar with the marching and playing style on more than a monthly basis. True, it is taking a little bit of time to catch on, especially with most schools unable to provide instruments and enough staff to develop a program, but with the increasing popularity of the Blue Knights winter brass ensemble, it shouldn't take too long for it to sprout at other schools.
  3. Mark Arnold never marched corps, but he was on the Troopers staff briefly
  4. If Indy's out of the question, there's always Drums Along the Rockies that weekend! ;)
  5. I believe Star wore white pants with the same jacket in 1986, leading me to believe that the Brothers Chap stole the idea of Homestar Runner from that uniform, as they look exactly alike. /nerd?
  6. Oh, you guys. Making fun of our humble little corps. "In the Still of the Knight", a Boyz II Men tribute. "A Hard Day's Knight", a Beatles movie soundtrack "Knight Moves", the best of Bob Seger "Music of Dexy's MidKnight Runners" "Here's To The Knight", a tribute to Eve 6's horrible graduation song "Wild Knights", Van Morrison's idea of a Jesus-themed drum corps show "Rhythm of the Knight", nothing but percussion features "No More Lonely Knights". Hey, drum corps kids need lovin' too! "Three Dog Knight", hey, a Jethro Tull show worked! Why not?
  7. I never said that I wanted him to retire, or give up his position, I just wanted to see some discussion on what people think. I'm really happy to hear that he still has a lot of years left, because his legend is incomparable, and generations to come should be able to feel how awesome it is when Brandt announces your corps name when you're ready to perform a great show! Michael, you do a great job as well, and you don't need to worry about me gunning for it. :P And next time you talk to Mr. Crocker, tell him I said hi!
  8. You can't tell me you don't get goosebumps every time you listen to a finals recording and hear Brandt Crocker announce "On the field....". The man's voice is legendary, and is pretty much associated with Drum Corps International. He's been around since the birth of DCI, and adored by many, but the guy's gotta retire sometime. How do you think you would go about replacing him? Who do you think would fill his shoes? I, for one, would volunteer my voice to the drum corps crowds! I would love to hear my voice booming in the stands of Lucas Oil Stadium! But of course, only after Mr. Crocker was ready to leave!
  9. Brent Montgomery Blue Knights 2005: "CUT!!!" "Are you serious?!?" "That's not even close!" "You're pooping all over yourself!" "What the H### was that?" "There are four parts of the show that makes my butt pucker, and that's one of them" "Reset!!"
  10. The soprano soloist from BD 1989 is currently contemplating his options....
  11. 1999 Drums Along The Rockies. All the great corps were there! BK, SCV, Cavies, Cadets, Phantom, Troopers. If you're going to be deflowered, better be with the best! :)
