  1. Never noticed after 16 years of seeing that logo...wow!
  2. I can't remember the school, but the long winding "tunnel" showers were always an interesting experience! A narrow tunnel with probably 40 water spickets lining each side. Barely enough room to squeeze by someone to get into. In my experience, always close to scalding. I think I stayed at 2-3 schools with this type. Anyone remember where? Box 1 quality but Box 2 simply for uniqueness.
  3. And it brings attention to drum corps. I think it's a positive.
  4. Yeah, also I'm not sure if anyone downloaded Melodyne (the software that Hummingbrrd was written with), but it can do some pretty cool things. There's a free demo out there.
  5. Hummingbrrd sounds cool http://www.stevenbryant.com/hummingbrrd.php
  6. 1. Blue Devils 2. Phantom 3. Cavaliers 4. Bluecoats 5. Cadets 6. Crown 7. SCV 8. Boston 9. Blue Knights 10. Glassmen 11. Spirit 12. Crossmen 13. Colts 14. Academy 15. Madison 16. Blue Stars
  7. So they're NOT marching music ensembles? Aren't Blue Devils and Cavaliers marching music ensembles? If I click on "about the Cadets" or "about the Crossmen" the second paragraph is "What is a drum and bugle corps?" All drum corps are marching music ensembles. That's how I describe the activity to people that don't know what it is. Who cares?
  8. I agree! The activity (both drumline and guard) has really moved away from having tons of props.
  9. I completely disagree. I've been a fan since 1992. I don't feel empty or unhappy. Yes, a few shows are boring, but that will happen every year. I prefer shows today over the shows in the 90's. I like amplification. I would LOVE to see electronics pass. Some vocals aren't wonderful some I do like some. I saw a lot of shows last summer that pleased the crowd. After rereading your post, there's really nothing I agree with you on. Sorry.
  10. What corps out there store their instruments somewhere other than the truck during the winter? Every corps I've been around keeps them on the truck year round. I'm curious to see if this isn't normal.
  11. No way, I wouldn't want to march it. While I respect it, I personally like modern drum corps. I can't even watch a full show from the 70's.
  12. I love how you have to bring this into every topic. Back to Glassmen 07 please. The last three years have been great. I can't wait to see this show!
  13. And how would a marimba sound like a classical guitar? I'm not following....
  14. I would love to hear that in this show! Too bad it's illegal right now. I think it was RCC that used it at WGI last year or the year before? Great effect...
  15. But you supported it by watching the show. You knew the vocals were in there. I'm still waiting to see hot dogs stands crowded with people when the Cadets perform. Never seems to happen for some reason.
  16. Around $1000. Probably a little less for some with sponsorships. In comparison, one set of rosewood bars for a marimba costs $7000-$8000 a set. That's acoustic though, so it's okay to spend that extra money to "compete"
  17. I guess it's just me then. I can still enjoy drum corps with some electronic sounds. Some may do well with it, others may not. I may not like a show as much, but I still enjoy drum corps. Every year, there were acoustic shows that I hated. I still supported the activity.
  18. How did drum corps survive when the pit was grounded and they had to buy all of those expensive instruments to compete? I'm not sure how electronics are different.
  19. Thousands of people? The same thousands that refused to support corps that switched to Bb instruments? I guess I'm more open minded. I'm not going to refuse to support an activity because there are new sounds involved. That's ridiculous to me.
  20. Why does electronic instruments = theatre? Not sure what your connection is there. Please fill me in. By the way, check out WGI percussion sometime. It's not theatre, it's the same designers heavily using electronics to create some amazing new sounds, and it's growing every year.
