  1. Sorry ,double post. Shows what even thinking about log/log does to you.
  2. I used to get headaches having to do log/log plots.
  3. Gov.Cuomo brought this up at his press conference this week. He said 80% of the people who test positive would self cure. He also said that a number of people who would test positive would never show any symptoms.
  4. I believe,regardless of age,the mortality rate for human beings is 100% . :-)
  5. Statistically, more people being tested, means there will be more positive test results. It doesn't change the percentages of people who will "self heal",or show no symptoms at all. More tests/positive test results also means that, unless the severity of the virus increases dramatically, mathematically the % of people dying drops.
  6. Went to a hardware store this morning. They were sold out of dust masks. The owner said people didn't care what they were for. They had to have "masks".
  7. Give a listen to Different World,by Bucky Covington. Think you'll appreciate it.
  8. One my clients is headquartered in Japan. They were saying a big part of Japan's problem was an influx of a large number of people from other Asian countries, especially Korea.
  9. Its not an issue now. Hopefully,it won't be. But I wonder if DCI is putting any contingency plans in place, should there be an outbreak of Coronavirus in the states. As has been seen in the past, infections spread through a corps like wild fire. Tight quarters, less then optimum "living conditions",including laundry, provide an ideal breading ground. I also anticipate,if there is an outbreak, schools not allowing corps to use their facilities if they'd have to, as a precaution, disinfect the place after they leave. Could also affect people attending shows. I know from my clients in Asia, its an issue there. I also wonder if this will affect corps members coming over from Asia ? Just wonder what other people think ?
  10. Knowing Denise by reputation,I have no doubt about the amount of work she and her limited staff are putting in. I do hope they have/ are putting some of the money they are saving into hiring legal and financial experts, including for establishing their 501(c) (3)
  11. As I posted, I was involved with a 501 (c) (3) application involving a historic house. The County Historical Society provided a lot guidance. But even then it was an arduous, time consuming process. Eventually they ended up selling the property. Based on what they went through, even with outside help from an agency familiar with the process,I would hope the Cadets are using an outside firm to handle the application.
  12. My concern is that it seems like the "back of the house" is where a lot of heavy lifting is still required. I wish last night's webinar would have had someone(s) from the "back of the house" give out some information. I understand moving the "front of house " forward. But ,to use a racing analogy: You can't go around the track at 100 mph, while you're changing a flat tire.
  13. I presume the "divorce" between YEA and the Cadets is amicable. That's important, when it comes to donations. If ,as people have posted, the Cadets are a component of YEA,without a separate Tax I.D. number,I believe, even if a donation is directed to the Cadets,YEA could still use it else where. Maybe one of the lawyers who posts here could say if that's the case.
  14. Its been posted here that YEA filed 1 990,that included the Cadets. Its also been posted here that the Cadets didn't have a separate Tax I.D. number, and everything financial was filed under YEA's Tax I.D,. If that's the case,it seems, from a financial perspective,YEA and the Cadets would be one and the same. Again, hopefully this will be addressed tomorrow night.
  15. As I've posted,I've been involved in several bankruptcy proceedings, where I was one of the creditors trying to secure payment from a client who had declared bankruptcy. None of these case involved non-profits,so the issue of "societal impact" never came up. The proceedings were only concerned with dollars and cents, with the creditors, not the debtor, being the injured party. As far as the "agreement made between the parties". Unless that includes creditors,I don't know how much "value" it has in a bankruptcy proceeding. The issue of things like shield laws, etc. has been discussed in detail here. I also don't know what a judge, looking at this from he outside, would consider the "societal impact" of the Cadets "folding". There would of course be a huge emotional impact. I've been a Cadets fan going back to "Garfield".Losing the corps and their traditions would hurt, big time. But,looking at it objectively, the activity (DCI) continues. Prospective members can go to other corps. Other organizations could form a new corps. So, from a judge's perspective, how much of a "societal impact" would there be ? I would hope that YEA/the Cadets looked into all of this with financial and legal experts, before "pulling the trigger" on splitting off the Cadets. Hopefully they can into detail on this tomorrow night.
  16. Not necessarily. YEA/the Cadets can come up with any mechanism they want, to split. But,if their creditors don't agree, and they end up in a bankruptcy court, a judge will decide what happens. Where it can get really tricky is if it is found YEA split off the Cadets,"debt free",knowing the parent organization would, most likely ,fold.
  17. I don't know if it will be a problem or not. Hopefully its not, and the Cadets talk about it in detail, next week. I think a lot depends on just how big a "relatively small debt" is ,and how many companies. they owe money to. "Cred, kudos sounds nice. But, what good are "future orders" if you're not assured your getting paid, especially when that's happened before ? Maybe the companies that deal with drum corps are different. But most companies want to get paid for services or goods they provide. I know in my business,if a client owes me money ,and wants more work done my answer isn't usually "sure, glad to help you out". "Cred" doesn't help me pay my employees every week. .
  18. One of things that I hopes come out is if/how the organization have dealt with creditors when, it comes to their restructuring. Hopefully there's been a lot of communication with them and maybe, just maybe, they have agreements in the works to avoid lengthy legal battles over debt payments.
  19. Personally,I would love to see the Cadets come home. But,that being said. I worked with Hackensack, when the Cadets moved there. Our experience "promises made, promises broken". The organization burned a lot of bridges and left a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths. GH or not, some of those bad feelings may still be around. I also don't know if moving back creates any issues with past debts.
  20. Couldn't agree more. A municipality I work with purchased a "historic" (based on age) house. Over the years it had some renovations done,so it couldn't automatically go on the National Historic Register. Their original intent was to form a 501(c)(3). Complicated and time consuming doesn't begin to describe the process. Eventually they had to give up the idea and sold the property.
  21. The operative phrase is "try to shed". A few years ago one of my clients went Chapter 11. He was a developer ,with a number of what he thought were independent "companies". Just like YEA/the Cadets, they had to figure who owned/owed what, what their value was and how the assets would be distributed to creditors. It was complicated and took years to get hashed out. He also found out that, based on how bankruptcy laws are written,a number of what he and his bankruptcy lawyers thought were "separate" companies, from the ones that went Chapter 11,in most cases they weren't. In his case,he retired,so it didn't matter who got "burned". With YEA/the Cadets, they may still need to do business with some of the companies that would be hurt by them going Chapter 11. That could be an issue down the road.
  22. I'm looking forward to seeing specifics as to what exactly "a well - defined on going business relationship" means.
  23. From what you posted,Varsity becoming a "one stop shop" for uniforms, equipment, etc. makes a lot of sense. It does seem like it would be somewhat of a leap for them to get into the performance end (competitions, camps, etc.) of either marching band or drum corps.
  24. Thanks. Now I have to ask, what are probably a couple of dumb questions. 1.In looking at their web site,it only talks about "cheer". Do they currently have any involvement with marching band or drum corps ? 2.If they don't,why do people think they would in the future ?
  25. Forgive my ignorance. I keep reading posts about "varsity". Is that varsity.com,the company that handles cheer competitions,or is there another entity ?
