I have a question regarding the APDs and historical performance downloads offered by DCI. Can anyone tell me if these recordings have been remastered or altered in any way before being offered as a download. I own several older DCI CDs like the 1989 3-disc championship set and also have corps-specific recordings like the "Corps of the 80's" series of CDs from The Cadets. What I want to know is are the downloads offered by DCI better sounding then these older original recordings and releases, or did they simply rip the old performances from their archival recordings? For instance, my recording of the 1987 Cadets Finals performance seems quiet, especially when transferred to my iPod, so I want to know if I can anything by downloading that same show from DCI or am I just gettting a duplicate recording? Let me know what you think.

Although I welcome each variation with open arms (and ears), the traditional "Shaker Theme"/"Simple Gifts" melody has been worked into a fair amount of DCI shows throughout the years. Of course, I'm of the opinion that the '87 Cadets "Appalachian Spring" show is, and always will be, the best on-field version of this piece.

I thought the Blue Stars did a great job of incorporating narration into their 2006 production. So much so that "The Gift of Freedom" is one of the most played shows on my 2006 World Championships Vol. 2 DVD.

I just picked up the 2007 Pre-Season Recording CD from Carolina Crown at the Westminster Show. Not only does it allow me to throw some support Crown's way, but I also have a great audio recording of the fabulously entertaining "Triple Crown" show!

Speaking of which, do the 2006 Finals downloads on the DCI site sound better than the 2006 Finals CDs or is the quality about the same?

I saw that the Phantom Regiment online store is having a one-day holiday sale today and I am considering picking up the Live from Sinnissippi Park CD. Has anyone heard the recording yet? If so, how is the audio quality and would you recommend that I pick it up?
