  1. I remember going in for my audition for a D1 corps in 2006, and one of the vets went in and played some easy thing and didn't really care much I'm assuming because he knew he was in the corps. I got a 1 on music (he actually thought I was a college student but i was in 10th grade in HS, that made me happy ) But I got a 3 on marching cause I didn't have any corps experience, just HS marching band....and we suck. Anyway, yeah in this corps I got the impression that they kept most of the vets for many reasons listed here.
  2. Upstate New York, used to be the state with the most DCI corps in it, now there are 0!!! But aside from my bias on that, definately the mid north and the south in general

  4. Well yes, but I was kind of implying that I hate the fact that DCI corps in New York State in the 70's were the #1 state for corps and now they have 0 corps in the state, my mom is always talking about that, she marched in the Mellodears from Owego, NY, last year when I marched with Reading everytime she would make a trip down she'd say something like "back when I marched, i only had to drive for 15 minutes to get to rehearsal" But yes, i agree, if they were to put a non-local limit for corps I'm sure NY would be part of that.
  5. But what about the people, like me for example that live in New York, where there are absolutly no local corps (in DCI at least), and if all the corps I would like to march get filled, I honestly wouldn't want to be in a open class corps until I age out, not saying i won't ever want to march in one, just that it's been my dream to march Cadets, or BD, or Phantom and age out there, I wouldn't want that to be taken away from me just because of where I live.
  6. yeah fixed it, it should be would FYI - none of them are songs. None of them have lyrics. - i didn't realize that a "song' technically is music with words usually solo voice, that's cool. so Intrumental, if you will
  7. some songs i think Phantom would sound really good playing.. Hounds of Spring O Magnum Mysterium (a lot like Ave Maria they did in 2006) Toccata Fugue in D Minor (they did it in 77 but a remake would be AWESOME) Armenian Dances Folk Dances - Shostakovich anything by Mahler!!! The Phantom Regiment - Bernstein, it would be cool to hear them play the song that they named the corps after Pineapple Poll - Author Sullivan Anything by Shostakovich I tried to pick songs i havent heard on the field before, i love all these songs. yeah basically i went through my itunes and picked songs that i like and i think would be Phantom-esque
  8. The closest junior corps is the Cadets, at least for div I that is, and it bugs me because i LOVE drum corps and i want to get the best experince possible in junior corps while i have the chance, but the traveling is a pain. My mom marched mello-dears in owego, NY so she didnt have to worry about it then. Her and I talk a lot about the number of corps that used to be in the area back in the 70's and how its near impossible to find one now that isnt less than an hour away. Sorry for getting off track of what people were talking about, thats just my mini rant on this
