Bushwackers Open House
sabadrum replied to The Bushwackers's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
Elizabeth High School welcomes the Bushwackers. My students will be present, as will I. -
I agree, god bless you being 38. I had enough problems marching tenors at Bush this year being 28. The tenors were pretty #### heavy to me when I first put them on in March. I couldn't make it through a NYC parade, nor a few Memorial Day Parades (I had to flip them up, or almost started puking) I actually ended up having to take them home and track aroung the local high school track to build up the endurance. Once the summer hit though, I was fine. The last time I had marched tenors was back in the late 90's with the Raiders when I was 18. 10 years made a big difference for me LOL

Lee- Thanks for the kind words about Bush. What an experience we had this year! It was exhilirating to perform at Finals. Also, I would like to add that I shared a mere 50 minute plane ride from Rochester to Newark with a few of your corps members. What a classy bunch of people you are. I am sorry I missed your show as well, but I look forward to watching the your show many times on the DVD that I just ordered this morning. Mainly because I love power chords and evil stuff....but the sunglasses are bad ### too. LOL Take care!!

Did Sun Devils Pass The "Audition?"
sabadrum replied to KeithHall's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
Congratulations to the Sun Devils. I remember being on Fusion Core's staff last year, and the excitement that came with being a part of something new. It's amazing to watch it go from nothing to something. Enjoy the feeling..best of luck! -
Yeah, I feel bad for you guys. I bet you would pack a whollop next to everyone on the east coast.

Dear East Coast tenor drummers
sabadrum replied to drumlaw80's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
wow...in all seriousness, would an all age corps pay for a members plane fare if they did get a member from the east coast? just curious, and how has that worked in the past? -

Battery as the pit and vise versa
sabadrum replied to CanadianDirector's topic in Historical Junior Corps Discussions
The Rochester Patriots had completely grounded percussion in 1996 and 1997 (they were in division 3 at this point) and were a FABULOUS percussion section, many times beating the groups with the "flashy" drumline. -
Was it a lot harder for the hornline to play while wearing the Phantom masks? I imagine they may have gotten in the way.

! SUNRISERS Brass & Percussion Staff Additions !
sabadrum replied to DaveChina's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
Thanks Fran!! Good to be back! -
OK, so let's talk 1996 Cavaliers. I have always wondered at the end of the show, before the hornline sets up the crazy boxes towards the end, they halt in a formation that looks much like a pair of breasts (with about 70 horns, that's a big pair of boobies ). Does anyone know if this is what it was intended to look like? I know it sounds immature to ask, but hey, it doesn't hurt to find out the truth, right?

Rock on man. Should be a fun day on Saturday, no matter what happens. All of the corps have a fighting chance.

Alright, let's get it out on the table people. Who do you think is making Class A finals? Competition seems pretty steep. Thoughts? Bueler? Bueler? Anyone? Anyone?

Statement about Fusion Corps and Skyliners
sabadrum replied to drumlaw80's topic in DCA - All-Age Corps Discussions
Ladies and Gentlemen, I nominate Mr. George Lavelle for president in 2008. George, can I be your secretary of drum corps? -
Thanks Sayre. You can find me on the ballot under column Y. I'll be running for President as a member of the "Percussion" Party. Oh wait, I mean percussionists love to party LOL
-
Before I post, I just want everyone to know that I mean to start no controversey at all... I am sorry that the Skyliners will not be on the field at Rochester. Again, I do not mean to start any controversey. I am simply staing the fact that EVERYONE will miss the legendary Skyliners performing on the field this year. I think everyone should consider the fact that Sky, Bush, Cabs, Fusion, Hurcs, and Sun are within approximately 80 miles of each other. When you factor in the junior corps like Raiders, Spirit of Newark, Surf not to mention the new corps like Network and Vision Elite...it justifies that it is NOT EASY to get members to join a corps all the time in that "hot bed" of drum corps. Consider this as well. Many people hop from corps to corps to check out different places and different instructors from year to year. It happens often in the metropolitan area, and it happens everywhere else too. Back in the day, I know a lot of drum corps members were prone to staying with one group, as there was more pride in doing that. But these days, the demands on people outside the drum corps activity with work/school, rising gas prices, as well as other factors have changed how many people view the activity, and what they think it is about. They don't view it as any less important in there lives, but I think other things need to be more of a priority sometimes. I don't think anyone is to blame for the demise of any corps. I think it is the world around us, and just the nature of the beast. If drum corps is an activity that is always voluntary, there will always be fluctuations in membership, as well as corps not being able to field a group sometimes. It is a very sad thing indeed, but it is the harsh reality of being a voluntary, not for profit organization. Thanks for hearing me out!

Fusion Core is seeking percussionists. for the 2007 competitive season. We are currently seeking a bass drummer, and a tenor player or two. We also have a few openings in the pit. This is your chance to be the first members EVER of a new drum and bugle corps. There has not been a first year competitive drum corps in New Jersey for many years now. You will be apart of something totally new. Fusion is endorsed by Yamaha percussion instruments. Check out our next rehearsal on Saturday, April 21st. The location is TBA. Please check our website for further details. www.fusioncorenj.homestead.com Good luck to everyone else competing in DCA this year!

I won't miss the intonation of G bugles!
