  1. Okay it wasn't Holly that called you DONKEY BUTTS. It was me But anyway, yeah let's close this brilliant topic. I am sure we all got the messages as mixed up as some of the posts were. BTW Did I use Icon the wrong way when referring to Donny and Ponzo? I may have, I don't know. Anyway, it was meant as a compliment, I think. I only dream of having your skills. ------------- I am in the process of changing my name to protect the innocent (Holly in this case). I am no longer Business Manager of Fusion (by my choice). ------------ Okay everyone have a good weekend. Perhaps if its bad weather where you are, you will take some time to memorize your music??? I started to memorize Sky's opener last night. Had it since last Sunday and do have it roughly down. Impressed? I'm not. b**bs

  3. Hey Tom, Don't keep apologizing. You have the right to your opinion like everyone else. If there is a rule change for I and E/Minicorps put in place stating that there are no music stands allowed for any of the competitions, so be it. If we choose to compete, we will come prepared. - We all did it before. We have lots of time. I doubt the issue of music stands/no music stands will keep us from performing if we choose to do so. I don't think it is a show-stopper by any means. I agree it's harder without stands and adds a bit more to the competition, but if it's not a rule, groups should have a choice (for a variety of reasons). I do agree that in a competition, everyone should be expected to compete the same way. But again if there is no rule on the books, then again the group should have the choice and should expect to pay any consequences when it comes time to tally the score sheets (by the way, is there anything on the sheets that penalizes groups for using stands -- I seriously don't know, but I don't think so - so no penalty, right?). I know they taught no music stands when doing an individual competition in the clinic they gave last year in CT. Personally I am trying to work up to that. I shake so bad because of nerves, I don't know how I would remember everything, but I continue to work at it. Some day, maybe. Is it embarrassing at times -- YES!!! For now, it is important for me just to get up the nerve to get out there and play recognizable notes. In time, and with enough practice, I hope to be able to go out and throw something down without the music there. For now, I expect to see the lower score because I use a stand, but if I can get through the first hurdle, the second and third become easier as you loosen up, and hopefully the scores rise. In closing Tom, whatever floats our boat, not anyone else's. It's our money. It's our time. It's our life. If we have fun doing what we do and bring joy to ourselves and some others along the way, so be it. All this bickering shouldn't change what we do unless we want it to. Simple as that. Sorry to speak up against icons like Donny and Ponzo, but this is how I feel (actually I think agreed with you both on your points too ). Dano b**bs
  4. Hey Steve, Didn't you live in Waterford, or was that a different Steve? Hi anyways! I agree..... there is something special about Sky. Yeah I do other things, but I still remember back to the days with Sky. I really enjoyed it there, and the people are great. I truly miss it. All I can say is I hope they make it back this year. From the open house post, it sound promising. I commend you on trying to find a way up to participate with Sky again --- that is quite a ride. Try doing the sponsorship form to help with expenses --- it may help ya! Good luck! Dano b**bs

  16. Hey go for it! Everyone in our pit did this summer, had a great time, and didn't do that bad all things considered. Special kudos to Ben Schwatz for that. Dano b**bs
  17. Hi Fran, Glad to hear Barbara is making great progress. Wishing you both the best. Keep up the good work! Dan
  18. My uncle got us all started by taking us to a show in Boston in the early 70s. My cousin Ed marched with the Speigleaires. Several of us marched with the Troy Volunteers - My cousin Steve played snare, my brother ED Contra, and I played Bari/Mello/Sop depending on the year (mainly mellophone). My brother Ed, his wife JoAnn, and I marched with Excelsior and Sky Alumni. (I also marched with the Sky field corps and had a great time there. ) Now, Ed has a lot of problems with his neck and shoulders, and is scheduled for surgery shortly on his neck (I think next week). All this has kind of ruined DC for him. But hopefully he can come back someday. For now, he comes around periodically, and even cooked for Fusion Core this summer in Chambersburg. He opened up a catering business so this takes a lot of his time during the summer. My family, except for my father (who would rather watch baseball ), was always following the corps around and still do, including my mother! - we usually have 3 rooms DCA finals weekend. Many of the kids in the family are in jr/high school bands. My hope is to steer them into doing drum corps for at least a year before they are off to college. I wish my son David would play -- he almost did Sky one year...Keeping my fingers crossed. I think Nate will, and maybe a few of his cousins. DC is a great activity for everyone to participate which is why it's so appealing to many. Well that's about it for now. :blah: b**bs
  19. ^OO^ Hi Chris, Thanks for choosing to help Fusion out in 2008. That is very good news, and we are all excited. I was very impressed with you at the drum major tryouts last year. You were very helpful then. I can't wait to see what your program will be. Again welcome to Fusion Core. Dano b**bs (Big Timp'n)
  20. Joe, I couldn't agree more. BTW Sad to see you go as webmaster -- you have done a great job. I don't know what happened today on this thread, but find it quite embarrassing for the Albany effort in general. I wish my friends at Excelsior the best for 2008. I will come around when I can. I wish Capital Brass, Sky, Cru, and everyone else the same. Do your thing~~~!!! b**bs See everyone in Troy on Sunday!!! Dan
  21. Fusion is Bb/F We are working towards a full set of Yamaha brass. We have some folks using their own horns and have some horns we lease from Capital Brass (Thanks Tom) - we are thankful to everyone for use of these horns while we bridge the gap. b**bs Dano
