I freaking LOVE April. It seemed like all the guard members loved her, she is one of the most hilarious human beings I've ever known, especially in the marching arts. But wow does she know what she's doin!

I did find that we sounded very distinct compared to other groups. But I definitely know our brass approach was for most of the show (except Blue Shades) about Volume, Intensity, and Power. Yeah there were precision and timing things, but that's natural. The baritones got harped on it big time mid season not that they were overplaying but that it was overshadowing the rest of the ensemble.

The narrators were narrating into mics they were just like 20 feet away so I wouldn't be surprised if you heard them. All we did was one recording so they were able to pull them out. *Cool thing about the preseason DVD, you can hear little birds in the background during Shenandoah and Philip Bliss that were flying above us. Pretty cool huh?

We did quiet it down because Judges complained, and then it just kinda skyrocketed up after they were like what the heck just stay committed to the volume. Then again the stadiums out west were not like the stadiums in the east. (Allentown Included), they were flatter and wider. Pasadena accentuated this. But we did get louder, the decibel meter kept showing that were getting louder.

But then Gino yelled at us and said, "I don't care what any judges say anymore, I want VOLUME!" So it louder so says the decibel meter that we used every sectional. I swear 50% of the comments from the box was about "committing to the volume level"

2006 I felt that we pulled out our run throughs too early and we were definitely not in good shape like we were this year. 05 were some faaaaaaaaaaaatttiessss

Go try out for the Cadets we eat 4 times a day!!! The food at those camps (and on tour) are the freaking deal. Absolutely freaking amazing.

Drink milk after every workout (skim preferably if you're overweight). The protein build up in the off season in conjunction to a good cardio workout certainly will do the trick.

We took smarties and shoved them in our dotbooks. Staff didn't care at all one time i ate 3 smarties and woooo i never moved that fast in my life. Unfortunately my sugar rush left to an inevitable crash at the end.

OnQ would be a free day for the Cadets. We... don't get freedays. lol When we get starbursts... that's a freeday. :-P

It was definitely my least favorite section of the show. funny as it was probably the hardest song of the show to clean. It was probably where most of the cleaning of the show went. It was definitely not a part I ever looked forward to.

Funny enough that my favorite Phantom Show ever was 2006 Faust. That's probably on my top ten played mp3's out there.

So you nay sayers basically don't like something because things are different and avant garde? I wonder how many of you really sat down and said "I might be naturally resisting to these new things just because they're new?"

I doubt most of you complete 100% naysayers who swear never to go to another dci show again will eventually go to a local show. With time the stubborns are going to crack.

People (Humans) don't like Change. I would tell you ###### off by change people to give it a shot before becoming like a stereotypical human. Give it some time and it'll become the norm and you guys can wait for the jetpacks and animal inclusions to be the next controversial topic. Eitherway, if you don't like it don't come. If you really find yourself offended that much not to come and see cool drill and sick licks being played (because that hasn't changed...-) you should go home and stick to the DvDs. I would imagine that eventually you would want to see something new by the time you've exhausted your legacy collections. Come or Don't Come It's not a very hard fork of options. Just don't boo or jeer performers of anykind.

2006 Phantom Regiment

I for one really really didn't like this arrangement of America The Beautiful for retreat. Anyone like it from the stands perspective? Suggestions for something else? Me, I'd like simple gifts WIthout the champions fanfare.

Now I wonder why Carolina Crown is not getting numerical recognition. It's always great to hear them warm up nearby. What an awesome quality hornline.
