  1. Pretty awesome, glad to see Scott Boerma's both arranger and music coordinator also. Welcome to the family Mr. Waymire! In Spirit
  2. I've gone to a few camps at top tier corps and was given a contract just to prove that i could march wherever i wanted to but chose to stay with my drum corps family. I also have good friends who's marched in a top 5 world class corps before and chose to march their original corps, open class, the following year (aged-out there too). All in all i think it's more-so about the individual, people go where they think they'd be happier, whether that means leaving lower corps to go to a higher or the opposite (and rare scenario) of one leaving top corps to be with the lower, all about preference and motives.
  3. I'll stay depending on what changes and what doesn't...........
  4. It was awesome playing for you Crossmen, and it was an awesome treat getting to listen to Russian Christmas. I'm really glad that we were able to do this. I've made pretty good friends from Crossmen, traded a few numbers and actually hung out with a few on Finals night. You guys did an incredible job this summer and continue to keep up the good work guys!
  5. On a brighter note, i'm really enjoying this season. Alot of great shows and the competition is really pushing all corps to their best making it all that much more entertaining. Here are some of my extremely generic opinion on corps i got the pleasure of seeing a few times, some live and some with the courtesy of my iPhone (these things are amazing on tour) Haven't seen West Coast corps with the exception of Academy (on youtube) Academy- saw this and I actually like the show alot more than i thought I would, they again have their crazy technique moments in their book, hope i can get a chance to see it live Blue devils- have yet to see it Bluecoats- i really like the show, pretty original, the book is crazy hard and they pull it off well. Blue Knights- haven't seen the show but some great changes must've happened since they've been doing so well recently Blue Stars- love the sound of the hornline this year, really dark and warm and the show is really entertaining. Boston Crusaders- really, really really, liking the new BAC!!! Cadets- Vesuvius is pretty awesome, hornline took a different approach than last year IMO, liked the in your face last year but this year the music is pretty clean and i love the horn book Cavies- Saw it at the beginning of the season, enjoyed it, as expected really cool visual moments, choreography is pretty awesome too, looking forward to seeing what changes and additions that were made Crossmen- Our corps (Spirit) is extremely close with this corps and it's great to see them doing so well, keep it up guys. Colts- Really don't know what happened to their scores recently but i enjoy the show, great music selections Crown- i really enjoy their show selections, really original and really fun Glassmen- Amazing show concept and the guard follows their roles so well. Madison Scouts- My favorite corps of all-time, the hornline has great moments and 'm really digging the new uniforms Mandarins- haven't seen it :( Pacific Crest- I've heard awesome things about them can't wait to see them Pio- have yet to see their show either Phantom Regiment- Spartacus, all I need to say SCV- haven't seen this show either Troopers- always enjoy watching this corps. I can honestly say I like something about every show i've seen so far, my fav shows so far being Cadets and Bluecoats and honorable mentions to BAC and Blue Stars :)
  6. Haha, I am currently marching, in the hospital at the moment due partial ACL tears in both knees , actually scheduled to have surgery day after tour ends. I'll be back in action in a few days though, can't wait, really missing it right now.
  7. Can't wait to see Crown's twist on it all, something new, something to look forward to also!
  8. bought random stuff over the year, such as shoes, shirts/shorts, etc. Now tour' actually close i'm only getting hygiene goods and that's it. So prob 20-30 bucks, but all year prob spent 200 but 140 were on Asics and rest on shorts, since my shoes were destroyed on tour last year. But yeah, I agree what everyone else is saying, you'll be throwing away a ton of stuff or having a ton of stuff getting in the way, so yeah, what you think you may need, you prob won't
  9. We played it last summer, quite often
  10. Madison Scouts- enjoyed the energy, should be extremely interesting w/ 92% of the corps being vets Bluecoats- great show, really anticipating how the visual staff plays a role in this year Cadets- Great in your face drum corps. Academy- New competitors, really impressed. Spirit- In the midst of finding their new selves and liking it.
  11. To my understanding it's not "Spirit of JSU" anymore just "Spirit". It's stationed there, but that's about it. None of the Spirit staff are from JSU this year, with the exception of one tech.
  12. Crown and Cavies "represented their theme" better....................It's okay to have your own opinion, no need speaking for what the majority of the spectators really think.
  13. Sweet, i'm sure guard will do well with this concept like last year
  14. Cavies will win, it just seems like one of those years for them.
  15. Colts miss finals (not that I believe the talent will drop, just that I think a few corps will catch up) madison back in finals phantom medals cadets wins horns possibly Academy or Blue Stars into finals 10th-15th is tricky, anyway there'll be good competition between them all and it will continue to raise the standards in the lower placing corps. Anything can happen really.
  16. Wow, that's a pretty mature and positive comment, hardly ever see those on these kind of threads
  17. They'll def fall apart before all-days(spiring training) is over if they're worn out already. Just go ahead and buy a new pair of either them or Asics, most prefer Asics over NB. But not only does buying the appropriate shoes feel good but they also prevent injuries. Just my .02 cents
  18. Please do wear socks, I see way too many people marching bare feet and it does horrible things to your feet, like bleeding and cracked toenails, that takes a loooooooooong time to heal, I know from experience also, haha.
  19. Mybad, i'm really looking forward to what they bring this year. I'm really excited with all the competitiveness between corps, it's really going to raise the standards of it all from 10th on down!!!
