  1. and who would have the money or even want to attempt this?
  2. as legal as it would be, nobody would do it, so please stop exaggerating, and adding more to the complaining. Thank you :-)
  3. yea, no more complaining about Academy's touring schedule... only 3 shows less than BD.
  4. I really liked the BlueCoats opener. it just snagged my attention right off the bat, with the jail break and everything. But i'd have to say BD's opener was the most exciting....though the show began to flatline afterwards.
  5. thats a very good strategy... except it might have a weak point... for example, the purple team (with all the rookies and lower members) may not get good examples of what to do, and might not learn as fast as they could if they ha dthe cream team with them to be the higher example... but in other ways it could be positive..
  6. yea, there are other shows around that date from sources I've heard from (staff member from an unnamed corps in Cali I'm friends with). I heard a Stanford show will be the next day. and there is a show in So Cal the day before. could be a rumor though.
  7. if there isnt a deal to just buy one show tickets yet, there will be. Just because its 299 for 5 shows doesnt mean you'll pay that much for one show. DCI isn't THAT stupid, they will get the individual ticket prices out, and hopefully not much higher than last year (probly will be a bit higher because of using the next stadium? i would presume)
  8. i thought opposite. i thought it would be really cool! that willb e a fun night. maybe not the ideal drum corps show but good for outside viewers
  9. that is sad! wow, I wish ECJ would return, more people should audition!!! I guess a lot of people went to jersey surf?
  10. yea! the usual riverside/walnut shows would be really changed with a bunch more of the top corps there. that would be cool too, also maybe that will bring a few other corps out to Arizona for Southwest Corps Connection
  11. i went to the fireworks display there, as my family usually has a gathering for 4th of july each year not far from there, and when we went there I can't remember there being any flaws in the field, it looked perfect. too bad they didnt maintain it through until finals. man if cavies join that would be the entire top 5, plus a number of other great corps! that would be a great night/day of drum corps/fireworks. I'm excited for them to announce what exactly the event will be...
  12. that WOULD be cool. A bunch of full corps blasting out a powerful patriotic piece as the fireworks go off!
  13. I heard from a reliable source that there is a Stanford show on July 5th, (if this is true) then the corps at the Rose bowl on the 4th will probably go to the Stanford show the next day.
  14. http://www.dci.org/news/view.cfm?news_id=6...c1-acf80402f048 Do you think it's going to be a major regional show, or a July 4th Celebration? What are your guesses as to what will be happening? because the Rose Bowl holds a Fireworks show with music every year in which 30000plus people attend. The Academy went there last year as a special guest, do you think more corps will be coming this year? Exciting!
  15. in the godfather, they had a pistol formation in the drill. thats violent and obscene!!!
  16. yep, hence the words "TO ME" which means "in my opinion" thank you very much
  17. three diamonds on the side, each one equals 4 championships: 3x4= 12
  18. that doesnt make any sense. I'm not attacking you or anything, but you need to look at the picture from EVERY corps rather than the corps that are in the east. Nearly every drum corps tours almost the entire country anyways, they are on the road until finals, so wahts the difference if they make a big loop through to california and back? Of course there are shows on the way. There are shows practically everywhere throughout the country. Your making it seem like the corps would drive out to Stanford, perform and drive back to the east to perform... your forgetting the whole central/west side of the US has shows too. Maybe not quite as many but it does.
  19. quote for truth. I like the idea for the: inviting and bringing more high school students to the shows. but having less shows may not be as rewarding. depending on the destination of the shows. For example..... I reside in arizona, in Glendale (near Phoenix) and I attend The Academy's Southwest Corps Connections each year. I noticed this year a slight decline in the population that attended. This was because more people wanted to go to the big regional in Phoenix later on in the summer. If they had more big shows, the little shows (in some areas) will get sort of "ignored". but contrasting that idea, let's say we are in a town in the middle of texas, or another state, with nothing really nearby for 100 or 200 miles. (no big stadium to use) you can still have your small shows in places like this. Maybe all the big shows would be for the big cities? This way corps can still perform a lot, maybe less if some small shows in larger cities are taken over by larger shows, and maybe they would add a few more big stadiums to perform in to add to the "drum corps tour experience". that's what I think. maybe its a long shot but it would be cool. what do you guys think?
