  1. to answer the questions of the people wondering which part of Sweeney Todd BD is playing, it is the same as Carolina Crown. Granted it will be a different arrangement. I personally think I will like Carolina Crown's arrangement better, and I feel that I will like the sound of Carolina Crown better this year because of their low brass.
  2. Whose arrangement AND performance will be better? Or will you guess you will enjoy more.
  3. The cowboys stadium would be amazing for Drum Corps. Main reason because there is going to be a HUGE screen hanging from the roof (like at basketball stadiums), spanning from the 20 yard line to the 20 yard line. Now that's a HUGE screen. It would be good for camera footage during shows and stuff.
  4. The symphonic band piece, Prelude, Siciliano, and Rondo.
  5. all the oldies will see the activity this year, and realize that the activity isn't going to change as much as they thought because most corps will probly stick to the same game plan, and not very many oldies will leave the activity in 09. quite bold, but possibility
  6. They did before SCV added on their closer. They were just marching through the beautiful ballad. Once they added the closer, they couldn't handle the final drill yet, it was too difficult for them at that point in the season, so BD surpassed them. My prediction: The Academy will get 13th yet again, after another season of hype. Phantom's show will be a favorite but they will not be in top 3. Same with Bluecoats.
  7. synchronized swimming has got to be the hardest sport in the world IMO, not many people can do what they do
  8. I guess this sort of relates to the other thread about hornlines, but i want to find out which hornline excels in which area. For example, give the best soprano section, mellos, bari-euphs, and tubas. For me its: Tubas---BlueCoats Bari/Euph---Phantom Mellos---Blue Knights, or Cadets Sopranos---Blue Devils
  9. I am an age-out member in The Colts. I don't mean that people will change their mind completely, I mean you will give them bad vibes for the activity, which could possible cause less enjoyment, because they would be thinking "these electronics are really stupid", when they might actually sounds pretty cool. Nobody knows. They would just go in to a show with a negative attitude. That's all I have to say. i'm not trying to be rude, I'm just saying, all the negativity about the rules is probably going to spoil the experience for some people
  10. that makes a LITTLE more sense... this is just their second year in World class, not their first
  11. My response is this: The opinions to keep to yourself are the opinions you wish to tell everyone in order to get MORE people to leave the activity like you said. That's just spreading the negative attitudes. Now why would you want to do that? Some people still like the activity, maybe they (me included) aren't fond of the new rules, but we can deal with it. Why are you guys are trying to take other people out with you? That's the only thing I don't understand.
  12. he probly got Academy confused with another new corps
  13. Oh and, having girls on the hornline doesn't change anything that has to do with the sound. I know SO many girls that play just as loud as boys. It's not a matter of strength.
  14. 1. To Whoever said the Cadet's closer was more difficult than Phantoms-- A large chunk of the Cadets closer the brass wasn't even playing. 2. To the same person that said Phantom was all jazz running at a 6-5, Watch the video again. I don't see anybody going smaller than 4-5. The Cadet's didn't have a part with everybody jazz running at once either. 3. I agree Cavaliers endings are inconsistent. Really liked the 06 ending, really liked the 04 ending, really liked the 02 ending, really liked the 00 ending. If they keep the tradition going, we are in for a good closer this year. Every 2 years. 4. I do agree though that Phantom sounded much more unified as a hornline in 06. I don't know why, maybe it was the drill not being as difficult (though i think it is just as difficult) or maybe music staff changes? Not sure if they had any changes there. All I know was the 06 hornline was a bit better. The bari/euphs however are an exception. I thought they were amazing last year.
  15. Let's stop the tug-of-war right here. If you want to leave the DCI activity, then leave but why do you have to take people down with you? It's not a matter of changing a few minds, you're just trying to convince people that you are right. Nobody is right, everybody has their opinions. So please keep opinions to yourself, and let other people decide what they want. Thanks
  16. Wow. I did varsity football and concert band. My friends invited me to join a local corps here in Cali in the early 90s. So I did drum corps too. For everybody that knows the actual experience of drum corps vs. football, I'm 100% sure that drum corps was the experience I remember more. With varsity football you don't get the long sleepless nights on the bus rides, you don't get the experience of playing in front of tens of thousands people, you don't get the incredible life lessons that I still live by to this day. Football, and ALL activities I have ever seen don't match up to the value and power of one season of drum and bugle corps. Leave the activity if you want, but know that you are abandoning thousands of musicians, and athletes going through the most beneficial experiences of their lives. Nothing I've seen can match what drum corps does to a person.
  17. SeaBostoLina's BlueGlass MandaGuardMen (AKA South-Pacific Pioneering Troopers) ACavymy SCoults of JSU's BeRgement County I think thats all 22 from last year, let me know if I forgot anyone, or can't find any of them. if someone reveals where they all are, I owe them a coke. :-) Good luck
  18. We were driving through El Paso, Texas, and I saw a homeless man on the side of the road holding up a cardboard sign with writing on it. It didn't say: "Homeless, please give", or "Hungry, please help". It said "I should have been a cowboy"
  19. well first of all, the giants are in the super bowl so that probly means they are a good team. Second of all, the cowboys always seem to screw up when they actually NEED a win... they can never win in clutch
