  1. Truth be told - I didn't "get" this show in 88 - I didn't enjoy it at all.......but in the last few years I have listened to this show MANY times and wish I could go back, sit on the 50 and enjoy it live. I don't know about it being ahead of it's time, but I know I was not ready for it yet. I think this is an amazing musical book and have it loaded on my "best of" collection. The shows from 84, 85, 86, & 88 were just on another level - a different direction - but "oh so good"!!
  2. Been wondering for years: Why is SCV's show book different on the record than at DCI finals. As good as the SOTA is - it seems to be pretty late to change music. Don't Cry For My Argentina is not on the record. Was this change done before the season started or later? Why? Anyone know? BTW - I really like the song that was cut from the show - amazing sop solo.
  3. 1986 - Blue Devils My all-time fav BD show - pure drum corps!!!!!!!!!! And for a championship show it never seems to get the love in all the "top show" polls or Showdown voting - never understand why.
  4. All I know is when I saw the scores, my 1st reaction was OMG!!!!!!!! nuff said
  5. Quite the norm in the late 70s/early 80s. In fact - 1983 DCI finals, only ONE corps had a book without at least one song from the previous year - Phantom Regiment.
  6. I do not think I will EVER experinence a Drum Corps moment to top the 1982 DCM Championship run-off between Madison & Phantom! Between morning prelims, evening finals, and the run-off - that was 3 amazing shows in one day for each corps. No regional championship show would ever think of attempting something similar in today's DCI.
