  1. I'm looking for two decent tickets for Friday's show in Nashville.
  2. Has the DCI souvenir booth been at any shows yet? I want to pick up the 09 Finals on Blu-ray and was wondering if they're carrying it.
  3. I've wanted to check the source material out for a while. Anyone have a link to where I can buy it or sample it? Amazon has it used for $30, and I'm not willing to pay that much.
  4. I know most don't like comparisons to marching bands, but Paul Laurence Dunbar's 2007 show was "My Immortal." I believe Guidry arranged their book as well. As an unbiased spectator, I really enjoyed the show. Sounds like Crossmen have some great potential here.
  5. I'm still waiting on a corps to do a Christmas show. I think Crown would be perfect for it. A Christmas show could easily be done with a story line while not going off into cheeseland. We were on the way to Bloomington last week and played a Christmas cd in the car. Obviously, I start thinking about making a Christmas show. some arrangements that i would use... David Phelps - O Holy Night - if you've never heard this live on the free video site then please check it out now - ballad going into a company front comes to mind Andy Williams - It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year - would make for a nice little opening production sleigh ride - a little park n blow eh? Judy Garland - Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas - ballad - I loved when Bluecoats did it in 1996 First Noel - another possible ballad Gene Autry - Here Comes Santa Clause - a fun little piece - maybe a drum break
  6. I hate to create a thread for this, but I cannot find on DCI.org if the start times for semis and finals are Eastern or Central. I'm not even sure which time zone Bloomington is in. We're driving up today and would hate getting there an hour late, so to speak.
  7. after watching the murfreesboro show and the atlanta stream, i realized bluecoats cut most of the narration from their show. i remember there being parts during the drum break at least. i actually thought the narration added a lot to the show. anybody know why they cut it?
  8. just got in from the show. missed blue knights while watching the bluecoats warm up. good sized crowd. definitely bigger than last year's but not close to '05. SCV - I was a little worried what i would see and hear from them because of their scores and from the fan network videos. This is a difficult show, but it looks like they are finally pulling it together. Much in a manner like last year, they could very well jump 2 maybe 3 spots finals week. They definitely deserved 7th tonight, but I'm anxious to see how they finish. Bluecoats - Honestly I wonder why this show is not scoring higher. I really enjoy it. Drums are hot. A big negative tonight was that the mics went out halfway through the show. So you wonder if their GE scores were hurt. I think they'll pass the Cadets by finals and will duke it out with SCV for 5th. Cadets - I hate the fact that 5 or 6 times during their show I pull my cell phone out to check the time. This show just doesn't do it for me until the end. I believe they put on a new closer, easily the best part of the show. Voice is definitely a huge improvement over last year. I don't know how much higher the Cadets can go. I think they'll end up in 7th. PR - Wow. I was already digging this show thanks to the fan network. They did not disappoint. I don't know if their entrance onto the field was just added, but it is bad a**. Sets the tone for the show. Still no full closer yet. Drums are smoking. Could this be the year for PR? I think so. Crown - Wow x2. I watched these guys rehearse in Chapel Hill earlier in the day and was blown away. The best hornline I've ever heard. (Only my 7th year of DCI because I know that's going to step on some people's toes) Such a full sound. Yeah they are loud, but the most musical hornline too. During the ballad they pulled me in and just made my night. I'm going to be really surprised if they did not win music tonight. Crown could finish 1-4 this year, probably 3rd. I think these guys could go on a run these next few years and take home a few titles. Cavs - Like SCV I wasn't sure what to expect. Seen and heard the show already and thought it was alright. Visual scores had been slacking for Cavalier standards. I thought they had a great run tonight. Really enjoyed the show. Exit could be new, not sure though. Like the Cadets, I just don't know how much more they can go up score wise. But I thought they should have won tonight. Probably 4th at finals. BD - I was disappointed. Maybe they just were off tonight. I just don't understand why people are already wanting to hand them 1st place. I seriously had them in 4th tonight. Maybe others that were in the Boro will agree BD was off tonight. Usually I love BD's shows but not this one. sorry guys. I wouldn't be surprised if they finished anywhere between 1st and 4th. My finals predictions based upon what I saw tonight. 1. PR 2. Cavs 3. Crown 4. BD 5. SCV 6. Bluecoats 7. Cadets
  9. sorry to be vague. here is the description for some tickets i requested on ticket master..... PRICE LEVEL 1 UPPER DECK WEST SIDELINE AREA BLEACHER SEATING-NO CHAIRBACKS RESERVED SEATING AREA i just want to find out which section these are in. like 1rr or whatever. i've been there probably 50 times but have no clue what ticket master's description means.
  10. It's been discussed here numerous times before about how ticket master is a nightmare for drum corps fans. I'm trying to get tickets to the Murfreesboro show, and I'm wondering if there's an easier way to tell where I may sit. Should I just call the MTSU box office?
  11. i just saw that actually. however, when you are searching under 'drum corps international' and are just looking at different years, there are no repertoires listed. this is how i usually watch or listen to shows.
  12. first, i love the fan network. it would be nice though to have the repertoire for each show. also i think it would be kind of cool to be able to create a playlist. i think last year you could stream an entire year of shows. i could let it play while i do something away from my mac. just a thought.
  13. the boro is definitely worth watching. i've been to the past 7 dci shows there along with many band contests. i think it's a great atmosphere for drum corps. good acoustics. once the lights turn on there is just something cool about floyd stadium.
  14. i've thought about getting some friends to watch dvd's, but they just don't do dci justice. so this summer i'm bringing my 4 roommates from college to the show in murfreesboro. and honestly if anyone sees a show in person and doesn't like drum corps afterwards then they have problems.
  15. actually i've subscribed the past 2 years. i was pleased with both. it just got really old seeing people complain over and over and over and over about the service. come on people. it's extra drum corps. :)
  16. just purchased it. wow. anyone that starts b******* about this year's version needs to turn off his or her computer for good.
  17. random order.. scv 04 phantom 03 phantom 06 bd 2007 crossmen 02 scv 03 bd 00 cadets 00 scv 07 crown 07 wow that was hard. my list would probably change every week.
  18. hey does anyone foresee dci marking down the price of the 2000-2006 dvds anytime soon? this buy 2 and get 1 free promotion is just what i need to have all of this decade.
  19. Wow thanks guys for such quick responses. My college uses Tonal Harmony, but my piano instructor said she didn't really care for it. I also heard the Benward book is pretty good. As for getting involved with singing, I'll gladly decline and save everyone from the pain. I'd like to not spend a lot on the book either being a broke college student and all.
  20. I've been looking around for a good music theory book. There are so many out there so I thought I'd ask for opinions. I'm a non-music major in college just wanting to learn more about music. I play snare and am taking piano classes as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  21. I'm pretty sure he didn't march Star. Here is the press release link from his hiring at promark. press release
  22. Well I know that Don Click joined Promark a few years ago. (He was the co-founder of Music City Mystique if the name does not ring a bell.) But he also marched Blue Devils so maybe there is a connection.
  23. i bought the top 7 apds and think they sound better than quarters. my only problem is that they cut the trumpet solo starting the cavaliers show. wtf? one of my favorite parts of the whole dci season.
