  1. For what it's worth, I talked to some PC kids to congratualte them on a good start. They said they rehearsed Mon & Tues, had Wed off, and did a charity event at a hospital for developmentally disabled adults before coming to Vista. I didn't see any changes, but I saw the show from the side.
  2. Help me understand this. If you "march a show" when you're 65 it's OK to be rude at a show? Is there maybe a sliding scale, so if you're 55 you can only be a little annoying? Does this rudeness license only apply to the much-better-than-he-can-ever-understand Kingsmen, or are there obnoxious old guys all over the country that get a free pass?
  3. But that's the thing, it wasn't shave ice. It wasn't even SHAVED ice. It was GROUND ice. From ice cubes in a bag. For shave ice you need a big a** block of ice and a shaver. Not a bunch of cubes from the Frigidaire and a meat grinder. Shave ice is a gift from the gods. Ground ice is an abomination. And it was $4.00! I mean, you can get REAL shaveD ice at Bahama Bucks for that! It's way inflated! So, you take the 50 yard line from 06 and you subtract the $4.00 and it's like 4.333 inflation! ((50/6) - 4.00 = 4.333 Always show your work.) So we should subtract 4.33 from all the West Coast scores. Simple.
  4. One other thing! The service at Spaghetti Factory sucks. I'm SURE the service in Stillwater was better.
  5. I posted this in the West Coast Inflation thread, but it HAS to be said here, too! I had to pay $4.00 for the weakest slushie I ever had. it was advertised as "shave" ice, but it was ground ice! How can they get by with that?!? And you couldn't buy water ANYWHERE! It's 100 degrees Farenheit and no one is selling water. And they have one stinky porta-potty for the whole stadium. So you couldn't buy water and you couldn't give it way. AND the pressbox and "center" seats are like 30 yards off center!! Seriously. The 50 yard line is lined up section Z or something. This was the worstest show ever. I mean really, How can ANYONE take the West Coast seriously if you can't even buy real shave ice?
  6. West Coast Inflation is out of control! I had to pay $4.00 for the weakest slushie I ever had. advertised as "shave" ice, it was ground ice! How can they get by with that?!? And you couldn't buy water ANYWHERE! It's 100 degrees Farenheit and no one is selling water. Where is the justice? I PERSONALLY watched the video from the Madison show and I KNOW I saw real shave ice, and water bottles. How can ANYONE take the West Coast seriously if you can't even buy real shave ice?
  7. I forgot add earlier, that for pure dining and visual pleasure in Pasadena, my favorite was and is and always shall be Burger Continental. When the belly dancer comes out, I never know where to look.
  8. This is the kind of thread I love! One that deals with the real experience of the summer. I have to say, as an expert on fast food (unfortunately), that In-N-Out is the finest of all. I've tried them all. In-N-Out is the best. Period. Double-double, grilled onions. Fries. Diet Coke. That's it, the perfect meal. (Or sometimes animal style, but never the lame protein version. And the 4x is just too much.) To bring this back to a drumcorps topic, we could construct this like an SAT question of old - In-N-Out::burgers as _______::drumcorps Oh, and let me make a pitch right here for Bahama Buck's in AZ for shaved ice. I'm a convert.
  9. I really like the idea of a show with different potential endings, with the deciding point (the branching point in the decision tree) somewhere in the first part of the show. Some small event that all the performers have to know about and pay attention to. Every time I see The Nutcracker I think, 'This time the Rat King's going to win."
  10. That's great news. Sounds like much ado about nothing. Thanks.
  11. Huh. From my angle they looked like lawn gnomes. Thanks for the clarification.
  12. OK, so I'm WAY late to the party, but I also just got back in town after attending DATR. The Hampton Inn was my hotel chain of choice in the Denver area. Beds - solid Box 5 Price - high Box 4 Staff - high Box 4 (the only thing that keeps this out of Box 5, she didn't know where the Starbucks was) Reservations - Box 4 Location - High Box 5 Shower Curtain - low Box 2 (Definite lack of clarity. Oh, maybe that's on purpose?) Continental Breakfast - middle Box 3 (I have never seen so many white people in all my life) Also in competition: Obnoxious children and clueless parents on the plane - DQ Rental car warning buzzers that you can't figure out - Box 2 Local home town Buffalo Bill Days festival - Box 4 (Many happy dogs. More white people. Starbucks.) Brooklyn's - Box 5!! Before, during and after Paying back a Karmic debt - C'mon now. You know you can't judge karma. The Denver Tech Center Hotel - Box 1. Not OK. Unacceptable. Details on request. Christina at Safeway - HIGH Box 5, like a 19.8 (The only Hispanic in town, maybe. Grilled bagel solved a deperate need. She rocks.) My travel companion(s) - definitely Box 5 I'll be in Tempe on Saturday and I think it's a Courtyard by Marriott and some random shaved ice place. I'll let you all know.
