  1. From Hop: “Watching ensemble ... two toms out ( one knee and one virus) , one snare out ( virus) and one bass drum out (back). Ohh boy...thinking the search may be on for a very experienced number one bass drum and perhaps a tom player. We are in trouble if the kids can't march...”
  2. They're already doing it with their regional competitions. They show Quarter Finals every year over a live broadcast....they have the technology....
  3. Section 112, row 17....I can't think of a better seat!!! This is why you order tickets a year in advance! Although I could have just sneaked in and stolen a few seats, but by the time the top 7 roll around, people are claiming their seats back...
  4. I'm telling you guys...Whataburger is where its at...not only are they 24/7, but they start serving breakfast 11pm-11am...
  5. Well, from past experience, performing in the AM shows isn't as productive because some corps' don't even get a chance to rehearse. The advantage of rehearsing should allow some of the less-experienced (I'm trying to find the most kosher way of saying this...so please don't take offense!) corps' to warm up more efficiently throughout the day and potentially give a better performance. Performing with a cold body sucks hard...very very hard. Besides, the concessions at the Alamo Dome are WAY overpriced for what you get...I should know...I did volunteer work for Revolution for 2 years serving that crap!
  6. Yes I marched in 06...what did you do? I'm not recognizing your avatar...more than likely we know each other, but then again, I'm kind of a big deal...everyone knows me jk
  7. Samiches? F-that...drink beer, that's all you should need...especially if you hate narration and electronics.
  8. Well, they are doing a show in Dallas on the 17th...
  9. Well, go ahead and count on Bill Millers running out of food again and ridiculously long lines. As far as food around the dome, I'd highly suggest eating a large meal before you go. The Dome is right next to a semi-ghetto neighborhood and there aren't too many places to eat in a close walking distance. So unfortunately you might have to bite the dust and pay for concessions, UNLESS the corps that you marched for is awesome enough to let you eat off their food truck. I never thought I'd miss PB&J ...the only constant in drum corps And if you're not from Texas, you HAVE to go to Whataburger and maybe you'll understand why we're so spoiled
  10. I just hope they don't eat chicken salad any time soon....
  11. Folks, it’s our responsibility as DCP Fans to put our sensitivity aside and put people in their place because no one else is going to do it for them...you know, the good ole’ American way. I implore you to help our friends figure it out by making scenes, yelling at them, singling them out, and do whatever you have to do to get them to STFU. Kids will be kids and adults will be...bigger kids. All they need is a little encouraging and you’ll be good to go!
  12. And this isn't necessarily for HNC, but everyone who's in contention has massive rewrites. The thing that then comes into play is the maturity and talent of the members and staff. And while the upper-tier corps may attract more well-rounded performers, it really depends on the corps chemistry and consistency. Its just that some corps' are better with acclimating to changes than others.
  13. With all due respect, I'm not sure if you're keeping up with the times...the "tick" system was tossed aside years ago. DCI now uses a system that's based on accomplishment and execution. Besides, if we still used the tick system, there would be no need for creativity. So nowadays, its not so much being clean, its more about what you CAN do while being clean. The scoring system we use now works because it encourages progress, thus newer forms of entertainment and innovation.
  14. Interesting post...As far as I know, west coast corps' have always been inflated early on in the season, and lately the east coast scores have catapulted. Maybe DCI is trying to counter-balance the trend? DCI SW should be interesting, though all of the corps will be competing between Dallas and Houston a couple of days before hand. Interesting season so far...
  15. So I’m not into bashing corps’ or anything…honestly I look forward to different teams that bring new ideas to the activity, even if it does bring a rise out of people so please don’t take this the wrong way… With this whole body movement thing, I’m thinking long-term logistics. As far as I know, Crown uses movement/visuals that involve the hornline rolling around in the grass. While it may bring a great deal of GE (especially if it is done well) is it in the best interest of their corps to mutilate their uniforms in the process? I’m thinking more along the lines of situations where grass fields are watered before performances or the newly painted field had not yet had enough time to dry and could potentially stain/ruin the uniform. I know that colorguards are constantly worried about the same thing. If there was an emergency, I’m sure they could find a random cleaners that could fulfill such a task, but that may not always be the case. I’m just wondering if wearing a light-colored uniforms and doing the things they do are a good idea? (I know this isn’t the first time a cors has done this sort of thing)
  16. Holy Name Cadets - 90.75, to be achieved at DCI Southwest on July 18th. Yes...the "75" for obvious reasons
  17. But if they weren't allowed, who would cook our food?!?
  18. You guys take everything way too seriously... And while we’re on the subject, let’s go back to the days where all drill was symmetrical, 2-valve bugles, 15-minute shows, constant high-stepping, 300+ corps’, all tempo’s under 150 (cause that’s WAY too fast...we don’t want to have to work that hard,) America/O-Canada, retreats at every show, no front ensembles, cymbal/plate lines, facial hair, and NO WOMEN!!! ...just my 2 cents P.S. – And bring back the days when VK would pop out lawn chairs, ferns, and picnic baskets at retreat...and BD would assist with the drinks and umbrellas :)
